Main Role

The Quality Improvement Officer supports the implementation of the organization’s program for continuous improvement in quality and patient safety and manages the activities needed to carry out an effective program within the organization.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assists in planning and implementing the quality improvement initiatives within LRC EMS
  2. Assists in implementing LRC EMS electronic patient care report (ePCR) sessions
  3. Contributes to the development and evaluation of LRC EMS ambulance tablet application modules
  4. Prepares compliance reports to stations to improve ePCR usage
  5. Assists in communicating updates related to the ambulance tablet application to stations and reinforce key messages through different channels
  6. Develops quality improvement plans as needed
  7. Supports in training evaluation process and ensure improvement plans are implemented to improve future trainings
  8. Contributes to the development of technical manuals for EMS
  9. Contributes to the review of LRC EMS Clinical guidelines and protocols
  10. Contributes as needed to the training of EMS volunteers and national trainings
  11. Actively seeks the improvement of the EMS department

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Coaching in the field to support providers utilize the ambulance tablet application and propose improvement to the system
  2. Visit stations to audit missions and propose improvement to EMS management
  3. On call support related to quality improvement tasks
  4. Liaise with EMT Project manager and station level training coordinators to create an internal audit system and improve EMT’s performance

Function Specific Experience

  • Proficiency in writing reports and creating technical manuals
  • Healthcare quality improvement experience is an asset

LRC Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience with LRC EMS
  • Active EMS trainer and coach for more than 2 years
  • LRC EMS quality improvement experience is an asset
