Lebanese Red Cross

The Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) is a humanitarian organization established on July 9, 1945 as an independent national society. In 1946, it was recognized by the State as a public non-profit organization and as an auxiliary team to the medical service Lebanese Army. In 1947, the Lebanese Red Cross joined the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement  and became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies ever since. Furthermore, it is a founding member of the Secretariat General of the Organization of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies. The Lebanese Red Cross Society is led by volunteers, whose mission is to provide relief to victims of natural and human made disasters, and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, and to mitigate the suffering of the most vulnerable. The Lebanese Red Cross acts as an auxiliary to the medical services of the Lebanese Army during armed conflicts, participates in efforts aiming at improving health, preventing disease and alleviating the suffering of all people, organizes urgent relief services for the victims of all kinds of disasters, recruits volunteers and trains them to accomplish different tasks appointed to the Lebanese Red Cross, encourages the participation of children and youth in the Lebanese Red Cross activities and disseminates humanitarian norms and the Fundamental Principals of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the roles of International Humanitarian Law.

The purpose of the consultancy is to gather information on institutional funding opportunities that are of relevance to the Lebanese Red Cross. With institutional we mean multilateral (EU, UN, etc.), bilateral (donors like DFID, SIDA, GAC, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs etc.), Development Banks and (international) financing institutions and large foundations.

To support the Lebanese Red Cross in establishing a comprehensive, integrated and effective PMER institutional framework, promoting the reliance on adequate, factual and reliable information for decision making by senior and middle management.Under the supervision of the Planning Coordinator, the PMER Senior Officer will coordinate with the PMER technical team, which comprises the sectors PMER Officers, and aims at ensuring the delivery of high-quality strategic and programmatic data in a timely manner.
