Labor Intensive Construction Team Leader (LICTC)- 18 months
• Minimum of 15 years of work experience in construction project management, preferably with a focus on Decent Work issues, and in facilitation of community engagement and/or community development.
• At least 3-year experience in the Middle east humanitarian context; Lebanese experience is an advantage.
• Experience with UN-Agencies construction processes including HSE enforcement.
• Previous experience and familiarity with labor management is considered an advantage.
Particular activities include, but are not limited to
Establish cooperative relationships with and facilitate communication between Districts, Government Officials, Municipalities, community members and contractors in order
- facilitate community involvement in the construction works, mitigate conflicts and to ensuring an efficient and effective implementation of the project activities.
- Assist in the implementation of the community engagement strategy, including the Social Safeguards Framework to assist communities bordering the worksite to participate in the construction and maintenance activities.
- Facilitate community meetings, collect requested employment data and information and support the supervision team with community-level monitoring activities.
- Support the development process and implementation of Decent Work interventions and support capacity building for the relevant government bodies related to Decent Work principles and abiding by the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) principles in construction.
- Organize awareness-raising and training activities relating to social safeguards and HSE and ensure social safeguards and HSE measures are put into practice throughout the labor-intensive construction program.
- Identify issues, blockages, misunderstandings or other possible misgivings occurring at community related components of the project and provide suggestions for corrective action.
- Support and promote women’s involvement in the works including sensitization on the various GBV themes, including monitoring the safety of the work sites from a protection aspect.
- Maintain good communication channel with all stakeholders and report incidents in a timely manner.
- Make sure all reports are submitted on time as per agreed schedule.
- Upon request from the WASH Specialist, support the coordination of stakeholders involved in the programme, including preparation of meetings, and liaison with other International Organizations.
Perform other relevant tasks requested by the project team leader.
