Terms of Reference for a photographer and videographer in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon

Duration: One year

Background

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a UK-based humanitarian and development charity that works for a future where every Palestinian has access to a comprehensive, effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare, and the full realisation of their rights to health and dignity.

To achieve this, we work in collaboration with Palestinian communities and trusted local partners in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territory to answer a wide range of health and social needs, from providing vital medical aid in emergencies, to developing better health services for the long term. We also uplift the voices of Palestinians, and campaign for an end to the barriers to health and dignity that come from living through occupation, displacement, discrimination and conflict.

As part of our advocacy, campaigns and communications work, we produce a variety of content including reports, briefings, news items, case studies and social media. MAP’s fundraising team also produces fundraising appeals. For both areas of this work, high quality photography and videography is essential to raising awareness of the key barriers to Palestinians’ rights to health and dignity, telling stories of the Palestinian communities affected that MAP serves, demonstrating MAP’s impact and generating funding.

Objectives

We are seeking a long-term arrangement with a company or individual to gather a range of high quality photographs and videos from the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and the projects we run there. The agreement will be on a project-by-project basis and the chosen company or individual must have access to all Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon without assistance from MAP.

  • Edit the photographs where necessary and provide all photography metadata including captions.
  • Upload the photos to MAP’s multimedia library in a timely and organised manner.

Video production

  • Edit video footage in line with agreed plans to a highly professional standard including audio balancing, embedding subtitles, and recording narration or voiceovers where needed.
