CALL FOR INTENT TO BID: CONSTRUCTION OF DRINKING WATER FOUNTAINS IN TWO LOCATIONS - BEKAA

Overview

The Embassy of Switzerland to Lebanon and Syria, acting through the Bekaa Water Management Programme in the Bekaa collaborates closely with the Bekaa Water Establishment and local stakeholders since 2016 through its office in Zahle, and is currently  has the following overall goal:

“The most vulnerable people in the Bekaa Valley benefit from safe, affordable and equitable access to well-managed drinking water and sanitation services and less water-related conflicts.”

The Bekaa Water Management Programme is designed along two complementary components:

1) Improved Organizational Management, and

2) Improved Infrastructure and Resource Management.

As part of the second component above, the programme aims at improving the technical efficiency of water infrastructure and resource protection, while improving the quality of water delivered to the local population, in collaboration with local stakeholders. Local stakeholders include public institutions such as the BWE, Unions of Municipalities & Municipalities and other actors in the water sector.

Summary of the Works:

The works under this project consist of supplying all the systems’ components, complete installation, testing and commissioning, before handing over the operation to local Municipality personnel at the two locations in Bekaa.

The construction of the potable water treatment and water fountains at each location includes but is not limited to the following:

1. Site Assessment by a qualified team.

2. Design, study and analysis of treatment component.

3. Site preparation with minimum damage of the existing landscape.

4. Civil works required for the implementation of the project.

5. Supply and installation of support structures for potable water treatment system.

6. Supply and installation of all hybrid solar system that feed the water treatment system including electrical equipment’s (solar panels, Combiner Boxes, DC switches, surge arrestors, contactors, thermal protections, overload current protection, AC & DC Reactors etc.) according to manufacturer’s specifications, using installation requirement and procedures.

7. Connection to the existing pumps or reservoir with all necessary protection equipment.

8. Provide relevant documentation, including datasheets and user manuals for supplied items.

9. Provide Operation and maintenance manual for the system.

10. Testing and commissioning.

11. Training of Operators.
