LOST is seeking to recruit a Speech Therapist in Baalbeck Hermel/ West Bekaa

Position Aim:

  • This position is responsible for providing clinical treatment/support for students/families and coordinating/communicating with LOST caseworkers on beneficiaries/patients’ history and progress.
  • The job scope entails managing risk and service quality, performing departmental administration and operational tasks, and participating in continuing education and research. Effective collaborative and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • The speech therapist will provide assessment and treatment to students referred to her/him or identified by her/him.

Major Responsibilities

  • A Speech Therapist assesses students, plans therapy interventions, implements therapy plans, and educates beneficiaries and their caregivers.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety standards.
  • Assess clinical competency of students.
  • Communicate intervention plans, outcome measures, progress and discharge criteria to beneficiaries and LOST caseworkers.
  • Communicate the assessment results, therapy plans, goals and outcome measures to beneficiaries and LOST caseworkers.
  • Conduct clinical consultation/support/treatment/audits.
  • Conduct continuous professional development activities.
  • Conduct functional assessments to determine required therapy interventions for basic cases.
  • Empower beneficiaries and caregivers on methods to enhance health, mobility and functions through self-management strategies.
  • Evaluate therapy progress and outcomes using selected therapy outcome measures at regular intervals.
  • Formulate child-centered and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) goals in collaboration with LOST caseworkers.
  • Formulate intervention plans based on consultations and results with relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify risks of beneficiaries’ environments and situations before, during and after beneficiaries' contact.
  • Improve intervention by adoption of new techniques and technologies.
  • Monitor individual clinical and non-clinical key performance indicators.
  • Provide clinical education for students and their caregivers.
  • Provide interventions for routine cases.
  • Provide therapy recommendations based on evaluation of students' needs.
  • Recommend preventive and corrective measures for incidents.
  • Select appropriate and specific outcome measures to enable evaluation of therapy progress and outcomes.
  • Assist teachers, staff, and families in implementing effective strategies to facilitate the improvement of the patients.
  • Monitor and effectively communicate with parents about the student’s progress and help families understand their child's learning difficulties.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Therapy or any other relevant field.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience as a minimum in implementing child-centered activities in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of psychosocial activities, emergency response, child protection case management including family tracing and reunification, and setting up child safeguarding mechanisms
  • Specialized understanding and scientific approach to human behavior, cognitive performance, mental illness and psychosocial problems.
  • Ability to engage in case formulation, treatment delivery and final outcome evaluation processes.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English

  • Position Reports to:  Case Management Manager
  • Position directly supervises: PSS/FPSS and Parenting Facilitators
  • Indirect Reporting: Program Manager
  • Internal: LOST sectors External: CP Partners and others NGO’s

NB: LOST has zero tolerance for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines the principles of PSEA, always (Both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the code of conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
