DCA Lebanon as part of its 2023-2027 Strategy is piloting its support to the agricultural sector in South and Mount Lebanon through supporting farmers, specifically those whose lands were impacted by mines and cluster munitions, to adopt sustainable and agroecological approaches. Based on this, DCA is working on implementing two projects “Hazard to Harvest” and “Road to Sustainable Food Production”.

 

Contract Purpose & Expected Results

 

Overall objective:

The overall objective of this position is to conduct qualitative and quantitative pre and post assessments for farmers, manage attendance sheets during site visits, and provide timely reports to the Supervisor as requested and to ensure that discussions flow smoothly, participants engage actively, and conflicts are managed effectively.

The moderator facilitates the exchange of ideas, encourages participation from all participants, and ensures that the discussion stays focused on the intended topic or agenda.

 

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to assess and evaluate the impact of interventions on farmers by conducting both qualitative and quantitative pre and post assessments. This includes the accurate management of attendance sheets during site visits to ensure accurate records and to assignment is to facilitate discussions, manage interactions, and maintain a productive environment.

 

Results to be achieved by the Contractor:

The aim of this assignment is to support job creation in the Bmuhray and Kfar Silwan villages area through equipping members of the local communities with skills in ecological farming and to facilitate discussions, manage interactions, and maintain a productive environment.

 

Scope of the services

  4. Evaluate the training materials supplied by instructors.
  5. Aid the Field Officer in arranging appointments with farmers.
  6. Commence sessions punctually, extending a warm welcome to participants.
  7. Ensure the event starts smoothly, fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere and addressing disruptions diplomatically.
  8. Facilitate focus group discussions according to specified topics.
  9. Evaluate the training materials supplied by instructors.
  10. Aid the Field Officer in arranging appointments with farmers.
  11. Commence sessions punctually, extending a warm welcome to participants.
  12. Ensure the event starts smoothly, fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere and addressing disruptions diplomatically.
  13. Facilitate focus group discussions according to specified topics.

 

The consultant will report directly to the co-lead of the project which will report back to DCA head of programs.

 

Timing, Logistics, & Facilities

The contract starts at March 1, 2024, till November 30,2024.

The contractor will be based in Bmuhray and Kfar Silwan villages working as part timer.

 

Reporting

The Contractor shall submit a task sheet that mentions the days worked during the month and description of the tasks done in English, in addition to a monthly report updating the Contracting Authority on the activities, challenges, and contract progress. The reports are to be sent digitally to the project co-lead which will revise them and share them with the Head of Program.

  • Handling sensitive information with ethical conduct, following confidentiality protocols, and maintaining privacy.
  • Proficiency in data collection tools such as Kobo, Google Drive, and Google Forms.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude while facing challenging situations during data collection.
  • Collection of feedback on sessions and accurate documentation and reporting of collected data following established protocols.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • A related universal degree is a plus, with a requirement for knowledge in Ecological Farming.
  • Acknowledging and respecting participants' perspectives and emotions.
  • Proficiency in utilizing online platforms and tools for virtual moderation, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Skillfully managing time to address topics adequately and ensure timely discourse.
  • Demonstrating objectivity and neutrality throughout discussions.
  • Acknowledging and respecting participants' perspectives and emotions.
  • Proficiency in utilizing online platforms and tools for virtual moderation, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
