  1. Background

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH provides services in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education, working around the world to shape a future worth living. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. As a federal enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been supporting German-Lebanese development cooperation for more than 20 years. In Lebanon, GIZ is working in three focus sectors: water, education, and employment promotion. In addition, GIZ has programmes that focus on social participation of women and youth, psychosocial support, and conflict transformation among Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian communities. Currently, GIZ Lebanon has around 90 employees, more than half of which are of Lebanese nationality.

Gender equality is one of the key values of GIZ and its work. It is a prerequisite for and driver of sustainable development and a viable future of our society, both at national and international levels. GIZ takes a gender-sensitive and wherever needed a gender-differentiated approach and consistent action to eliminate existing gender-based discrimination and to foster equal rights and opportunities for everyone regardless of their gender, sexual orientation and gender expression. This and GIZ’s targeted promotion of gender equality are the company’s quality features that are presented in its Gender Strategy.

Based on the above, GIZ Lebanon would like to receive expressions of interest from trainers/experts who have experience in the field of gender on different levels and specific topics.
