BACKGROUND
Marsa is a sexual health center that provides comprehensive, primary and secondary healthcare services with a multidisciplinary team in a safe, welcoming, accessible and friendly environment that is free of judgment and bias with a focus on more economically disadvantaged populations regardless of their social background or political affiliation. Marsa’s services include medical, social and psychological consultations as well as awareness campaigns to ensure that information, resources, support, and services of the highest quality regarding sexuality are available and accessible to all those who need them in the community. Confidentiality and anonymity are the most prominent aspects of Marsa's services, which ensure satisfaction for the individuals who seek them, in addition to the subsidized fees, or free services it offers.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Community Outreach Officer will be facilitating the peer outreach process. This position will contribute to the empowerment of the Community Outreach Officer as a proactive member of the Trans community. This position aims to establish and to strengthen the relationship of trust between Trans individuals and the Trans community and Marsa. The inclusion of Trans individuals as primary participants and actors will ensure the success of this project. The main objective of this position is to ensure that information of the project reaches potential beneficiaries, and that processes, progress and performance are effectively delivered, and documented, in a way to inform timely decision making and the adoption of effective outreach measures for the success of the project.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The community outreach officer is responsible for the successful implementation of the outreach plan throughout the different stages of the program, serving as a link between the center and the Trans community. The community outreach officer is expected to collaborate with the center on a specific outreach strategy based on the participatory process with the community. The community outreach officer is responsible for providing community feedback on the design, the direction and various aspects of the project activities. The community outreach officer is expected to ensure that the project meets the mission and vision of the center.
Position reports to: Programs Coordinator
 
SCOPE OF WORK
The community outreach officer will lead the design of the project’s outreach framework, ensuring that the impact of the project is effectively designed, tracked, documented and shared with the center. The community outreach officer is expected to provide the center with expert advice and analysis of key affected areas. The community outreach officer on the project team is responsible for the mapping of the Trans community. The community outreach officer is expected to rely on their knowledge of the community and to conduct community consultations in order to design the project’s outreach strategy. In addition, the officer is expected to collaborate on the creation of a mechanism for the monitoring of the project’s progress, as well as for the evaluation of the project’s activities.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Create a community outreach strategy;
-Mapping of local development activities in the areas of influence specific to Trans communities, with specific attention to priority areas;
-Provide feedback from Trans individuals and the Trans community on health promotion material produced for the project;
-Identify pressing needs of various segments of the community and tailor projects according to those needs;
-Stay up to date on any new social, medical and legal information on the Trans community in Lebanon;
-Regularly share new information on the development of the Transpowerment project with staff members;
-Assist with the development of public relations and communications strategies to support the project’s objectives and increase community awareness;
-Monitor the project’s activities to ensure it assists in the progress and development of the community outreach strategy;
-Attend meetings on regular basis with the designated individuals and organizations;
-Identify and recommend key affected stakeholders for future collaboration.
-Create a suitable space for a collaborative process between Marsa and the main stakeholders.
