Psychological Counselor

Job Purpose:

Provide psychological support and counseling for beneficiaries, both on an individual and group level, and support INTERSOS staff to improve the quality of specialized services provided to individuals at risk in the different centers.

Generic Duties:

1. Assess the needs of the targeted beneficiaries in each center and design, in collaboration with the staff, a package of PSS activities for the beneficiaries of INTERSOS centre;
2. Support INTERSOS staff to improve the quality of specialized services provided (specialized psychological services, group therapy, individual counseling, and basic Sexual Reproductive Health services) for GBV survivors, CP cases and individual at risk in the different CAFS; psychological support for GBV survivors and CP cases.
3. Monitor the activities (awareness and support groups), within the centers and outside, and provide management advice in order to improve the activities implementation;
4. Report to the FAC and the Protection Manager any problems and/or training needs identified during the monitoring of the implementation of psychological activities.
5. Produce and maintain in an accurate way a weekly and monthly report of the activities conducted;
6. Informs the Protection Manager about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation;
7. Be available to train on psychological support and first aid INTERSOS staff when requested;
8. Collaborate with INTERSOS staff in conducting any other trainings when requested by the Protection Manager and the National PO CM;
9. Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the Protection Manager.
10. Be available to participate in meetings in INTERSOS offices or other identified premises.
11. Provide to the PO CM a weekly and monthly report on the activities conducted.
12. Provide psychological counseling sessions for individuals at risk.

Specific Duties:

1. Prepare a Self-care package for INTERSOS staff and conduct the self-care days;
2. Receive INTERSOS staff every two weeks in Zahle office for individual counseling and stress coping mechanism;
3. Conduct support groups and individual counseling with beneficiaries;
4. Inform CWs about cases that need mental health referral, after the basic psychological session provided;
5. Provide CWs general psychological feedback and progress after each psychological session to help in the case management process, while respecting client confidentiality.
6. Assist the CWs in referrals to mental health agencies (psychiatric hospitals and shelters).

Competencies:  (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Professional Competencies:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a clinical setting and with at least 1 NGO;
• Understanding and commitment to child’s rights and protection;
• Experience providing individual counseling services;
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook);
• Analytical and reporting skills;
• Driving license.
