forumZFD provides training and project support in Germany and abroad. It advocates the renunciation of violence-based policies, reinforcement of civilian resources in the state and society, and democratic participation of all social, ethnic and religious groups. forumZFD currently has more than 80 employees working in 14 locations in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and South-East Asia. 25 people are employed at the head office in Cologne. They organise the project work in Germany and abroad, public relations, lobbying and training activities. forumZFD has been working in Lebanon since 2009; the team of 12 staff develops projects in the programme areas of dealing with the past and capacity development. forumZFD in Lebanon with its partners also facilitates the dialogue and joint projects between Lebanese host communities and Syrian refugees, thus reducing the likelihood of outbreak of conflict through mobilising communities.
Tasks and responsibilities:
As a project coordinator in the project Future Together Now, you will contribute to the forumZFD programme in Lebanon, especially to the programme area Community Mobilising. You will work in an international team of 5 and cooperate with local partners. Your tasks include process-oriented work planning and implementation of the Future Together Now project. The project is aimed at reducing tensions between Syrian refugees and Lebanese host community. You will moreover network and exchange knowledge with other actors in the field, first and foremost with the local partner organisations.
Specific tasks within the project:

Support and mentor local community activists working with our partners trained within the Future Together Now project;
Involvement in development of the project concept, training and mentoring measures on conflict transformation and community mobilising;
Frequent partner visits to the project locations for supporting the implementation of the project (requiring a willingness to undertake regular, time-consuming trips to different regions of Lebanon as the situation allows);
Support participatory processes within the team and with partners;
Involvement in conflict-sensitive project planning, implementation of forumZFD’s internal monitoring system and reporting processes (PME);
Development of structures and networks to ensure the project’s sustainability;
Supporting administrative/financial aspects of project implementation and reporting;
Involvement in presenting project activities to the public.

Your profile:

University degree;
At least 3 years’ experience in development cooperation and/or in conflict transformation; and community development ;
Profound knowledge of the political situation in Lebanon and substantial work experience in and with NGOs;
Experience in mentoring and advising civil society and/or public institutions;
Knowledge of methods of non-violent/civil conflict transformation, community mobilising/work, especially dialogue and participatory approaches regarding communities;
Open to using systemic and holistic approaches;
Distinct ability to think strategically and conceptually, and to develop projects;
Experience in supervising staff, project planning, administration and financial controlling and advising others on these issues;
Strong intercultural sensitivity, ability to work in a team, openness to innovative ideas and learning, critical reflection and personal development;
Strong ability to work under time pressure;
Good written and spoken command of English and Arabic (experience in on the spot translation is an asset);
Computer proficiency;
Driving licence and driving experience.

Participation in a growing organisation with remuneration based on forumZFD’s scale (1,300-1,700 US per month, depending on level of experience and scope of tasks), including comprehensive social security benefits, transportation allowance, and medical insurance. Capacity development, including participation in training in country and abroad (among others, at forumZFD’s Academy for Conflict Transformation), is also offered.As a project coordinator working for forumZFD, you will take on an exciting and responsible position within the innovative field of civil conflict transformation and peace-building.
