The USAID -funded EARTH Program aims at improving and expanding the existing waste management facility in Zahleh region to enable it to manage the excessive loads of incoming waste and the increasing amounts of leachate generated from the landfill.

The program activities have four objectives: - Reducing the risk of leatchate overflow and consequent pollution - Increase environmental awareness among community members - Create job opportunities for local community members - Protect the existing surface water and shallow groundwater resources in the area
الأنشطة: 
Through EARTH, CHF and its partners are managing the excessive loads of incoming municipal waste and the increasing amounts of leachate - Constructing and equipping a top-of-the-art leachate treatment facility - Constructing and equipping a new sorting facility - Constructing and equipping a windrow composting unit - Constructing a warehouse for garbage collection vehicles - Procuring a shredder equipment for the management of disposed tires - Provide senior management and train municipality staff on proper operation and management of the newly established solid waste management facilities in Zahleh - Construct a new cell for the sanitary landfill and install a final cover system and vertical gas extraction wells at the landfill site - Improve performance and increase facilities
