Wide Approach to Sustainable Livelihood (WASL) was established in 2017 and operates in Lebanon and Syria. WASL is an independent non-political entity that provides strategic services and support for projects focused on the recovery and rehabilitation of communities affected by conflicts. Services include expert analysis, tailored counsel and access to local knowledge, programing and operational activities, capacity building for grassroots initiatives monitoring and evaluation, and assessments.
WASL is currently working with The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts’ humanitarian office (SSCC) and Caritas Luxembourg (FCL) on a shelter rehabilitation project in Homs, Syria. The Shelter Rehabilitation project provides grants to families to fix their houses and common spaces in buildings from medium war damages in the city of Homs. The Finance and Administrative assistant will be based in WASL's Beirut office working with the Operations Coordinator. This is a Part time job, (18 Hours a week, 3 days a week, 6 hours a day)
Duties:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Keep track of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Updating financial spreadsheets with daily transactions
- Scanning, sorting and archiving the documents soft and hard copies
- Assisting in compiling and reviewing the financial supporting document
- Purchase requests and small purchasing
- Petty cash and basic bookkeeping for Beirut office
- Data entry
- minutes of meeting taking
- Translating (Arabic – English , English – Arabic)
Reports to:
- WASL Operations Coordinator
Education:
- University degree in the related humanitarian field; finance, HR, Economic.
- A degree in Accounting is desirable
Required Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Experience in finance and Cash activities in the NGOs sector
- Strong knowledge of computer applications especially, MS Office
- Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Arabic and English are necessary
Skills:
- Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
- Great self- organizational skills
- Ability to work autonomously,
- effectively managing own workload without continual guidance
