Scope of Work

Under the direct supervision of the Programs Manager and in close coordination with the Program team members, the Project Officer is expected to undertake the following:

 

  • Support the proper and timely implementation of the different projects – mainly those under community development program through:
    • Preparing detailed workplans for the concerned project(s) and monitoring progress against those plans
    • Maintaining regular contact with beneficiary organizations and conduct regular field visits to program sites in the different Palestinian camps
    • Soliciting and reviewing technical and financial reports from beneficiaries and following up on issues needing further clarifications or additional supporting documents
    • Monitoring the implementation process to ensure the achievement of program / project deliverables in terms of both time and quality
    • Support in ensuring proper program and project closure including assistance in the design and implementation of internal and external program evaluations
  • Support in the preparation of project budgets and financial reports.  Maintain up to date and accurate financial reporting and documentation.  Ensure that expenditure of project(s) budgets are done in accordance with Taawon’s policies and procedures.  
  • Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarizing and documenting results, lessons learned, minutes of meetings and good practices from the implementation of the different projects. Draft progress reports in accordance with Taawon’s templates and/or donor’s requirements.
  • Participate actively in meetings and reviews relevant to the concerned projects and follow up on the meetings outputs and recommendations.
  • Assist in ensuring excellent relationships with the various partners, donors, suppliers and members of Taawon.
  • Prepare grant implementation agreements (GIAs); and ensure proper adherence to those GIAs.
  • Support in the preparation and collection of visibility and communication material related to the different projects; support in ensuring proper and consistent visibility of Taawon in the field. prepare success stories and any relevant documentations.
  • Support in the different fundraising efforts including preparation of briefs, collection of data, organization of events, etc
  • Prepare for workshops, seminars and other events organized for Taawon.  Prepare workshop material, coordinate with suppliers, draft follow up reports, etc.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Programs Manager.              

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields
  • Between 3 – 5 years of experience preferably in the humanitarian and development context
  • Experience and knowledge in program/project planning, design, follow-up, monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent command of both Arabic and English, spoken and written
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (Team player, problem solver, time management, and ability to deal with conflict, etc)
  • Excellent computer skills (MS-Office, MS-Project, and Internet Applications)
