General objective of the job

 

The Deals Trainer equips and supports facilitators/animators/staff with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out psychosocial support activities, including the war Child Holland “Deals” methodology.

 

Position in the organisation

 

The Psychosocial support trainer is part of the Programme Development department reporting to the Psychosocial Support Coordinator.

S/he does not manage staff.

 

Result areas

 

Developing and implementing trainings

 

Supports the revision of the PSS methodology and the development of new methodologies and other relevant materials as required by the manager;

Supports the piloting of new methodologies/packages (training, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, review, feedback);

 

Plans, implements and evaluates training courses on War Child PSS methodology and related psychosocial support, which involves creative tools such as games, songs, fine art, audio-visuals, group discussions, demonstrations, and practice sessions with feedback and role play;

Provides regular on site coaching visits in the field to support facilitators’ professional development and to assure quality implementation;

Conduct Focus group discussions for need assessments and/or evaluation of impact of PSS programs;

Support in evaluations of PSS programs (selection of samples, data collection and analysis);

Suggests modifications of sessions and exercises in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment, based on the feedback from trainees and children;

Ensures that all training requirements are met as outlined by the Programme Development department;

 

 

Result: the PSS methodology is developed and implemented in such matter the target group and PSS training related objectives are reached.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

.Coordination and Support

 

Collects and documents feedback from the field on the implementation of the methodology including challenges and lessons learnt;

Coordinates with War child officers, and project coordinators in field locations and work in a team to provide capacity building and follow up plans that are satisfactory to all relevant parties in the field;

Coordinates trainings, workshops and conferences in collaboration with relevant staff;

Develops and coordinates induction programs on PSS methodology for newly recruited staff;

Maintains a safe training environment by following War child safety procedures;

Provides recommendations and feedback to the manager and project coordinators when necessary on recruitment of potential facilitators and animators.

Develops training and progress reports;

Monitoring and Evaluation

Visits project sites weekly/as agreed upon and provide information about progress when required.

Designs and implements monitoring and evaluation tools in coordination with the PSS \protection experts and provides the necessary information to assess the program’s quality;

Assists in analysing the data collected and reports on both quantitative and qualitative figures;

Ensures the use of War Child M&E tools and formats;

Checks, supports and follows up on trainees’ comprehension and understanding of the training workshop by using observations and interviews to verify that learning objectives were met;

Evaluates and monitors the progress of the trainees through assessing their skills and knowledge in implementing WCH PSS methodology and other relevant PSS content;

Establishes plans to support learning process and the retaining of trainees & skills;

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

Bachelor or equivalent degree in animation, social studies, psychology or other relevant field;

At least one year of experience in delivering trainings;

Previous experience working with children is a must

Preferably working with refugee/vulnerable populations;

Good knowledge of psychosocial support programs/interventions

Basic knowledge of child development.
