As a graphic arts disciple, you know the power behind dynamic visual design. Here’s your opportunity to take your creative talent to the humanitarian sector: War Child! An international NGO, working with children growing up in conflict is looking for a graphic design intern to start immediately. You’ll interpret our brand strategy and mission—to bring joy to children—in terms of line, color, and design.
You will report to and work closely with the Communications Advisor to create materials for both on- and offline promotions. War Child values our interns for their strong design sensibility and promotes their professional development during the term. Learn to meet weekly, and long-term deadlines in a fast-paced environment:
Create graphics and design layouts for print ads, flyers, email newsletters, the War Child homepage, and social media accounts
Collaborate with the Communications Advisor and support campaigns with design solutions
Apply design theory to marketing campaigns and advance techniques for software ranging from Adobe Illustrator to Picasa to make pixel perfect illustrations
Social Media Posts
You will also aid with other communications related work as needed.
Successful candidates will come to the role with a background in graphic arts:
Prior experience creating graphics and a solid grasp of design concepts
Comfort working in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
Enthusiasm for the design process and attentiveness to different project goals
Graphic Design intern must also have photography and videography skills, as he/she will support the Communications Advisor in the field for photo/video taking and story collection
Video Editing is a plus
A graphic design internship at War Child primes you for future in-house work at other companies or with advertising agencies or NGO’s. You’ll benefit from the guidance of the Communications Advisor and leave the experience with a portfolio of polished work.
