General objective of the job
The Education Assistant monitors, coordinates, mentors and supports teachers activities in all center
Position in the organisation
The Education Assistant is part of the MADAD Educational Program and reports to the Project Manager
S/he does not manage staff.
S/he collaborates with the Education Programs.
Responsibilities
Result areas
- Supporting teachers and activities in public schools
- Ensures and monitors planned activities that take place in centers
- Assesses teacher training needs based on center visits and collection of regular data
- Assists in developing a monitoring and evaluation framework for both students’ and teachers’ assessment
- Ensures, promotes and facilitates the principles of child protection and child participation are integrated into all project activities
- Prepares and submits reports on teachers and students performance
- Ensures a strict adherence to War Child Holland Child Safety and Protection Policies at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child centered approach, acts in the best interests of the child
Result: Teachers are supported in such a matter that assessments are made and a monitoring and evaluation framework is established.
2. Coordinating and communicating
- Coordinates trainings and workshops as requested
- Organizes regular meetings with parents
- Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the Child Protection working groups
- Coordinates and communicates with Project Manager, and generally works closely with the WCH Lebanon team
Result: Coordination and communications are conducted in such a way that requests are answered and Child Safety/ Protection concerns are reported.
Knowledge and Experience
Degree in Education or relevant major
At least 3 years of experience working as a teacher in formal primary education
Experience in child-centered approach and other new teaching methodologies
Experience in mentoring teachers and/or teacher training preferable
Good knowledge in the Lebanese Primary educational system and curriculum
Ability to plan educational cycles and structures, lesson plans and progress assessment of students
Ability to monitoring and evaluation quality education including developing tools
Keen to work in unsecure and unstable environment
