Computer Educator

The Tahaddi Education Center (TEC) provides educational opportunities for at-risk, out of school children in the area of Hay el Gharbeh, south of Beirut (behind the Sports City). We are currently looking for a full-time Computer Educator. In addition to teaching at the elementary school level (up to Grade 7), educators will also be involved in other activities such as tutoring children of the community and organizing social activities during the month of July.

The Tahaddi Education Center IT lab is fully equipped with up to date computers.

Location: Southern Beirut (Hay El Gharbeh)

Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Position skills:

• Provide IT Literacy to children aged 7 to 14 according to the TEC requirements, using exciting methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests.
• Prepare monthly and weekly plans.
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to use in learning activities.
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior and social development.
• Show patience and demonstrate an ability to manage misbehavior using appropriate methods.

• Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere between children.

• Meet regularly with the coordinator.
• Work effectively with team members.
• Show self-motivation, enthusiasm, and creativity.
• Take part in professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements:

• Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, sense of initiative, desire to learn, and flexibility.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Excellent Computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office software, at least)  and the ability to teach them effectively to children and youth
• Nonjudgmental attitude, maturity, and patience in dealing with children and community members of different backgrounds.
• Adherence to Tahaddi’s core values of justice for all, integrity and serving deprived children with compassion and respect.
• Willingness to work in a very poor neighborhood with basic facilities and complex social dynamics.
