Overall supervision and management of VTeC Center:

  • Defines the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and develops plans for interpreting the VTeC Center programs to the community
  • Provides activities which facilitate the professional growth of the center’s staff, and enhances the quality of the instructional and MHPSS program
  • Orients and assists new staff, and provides opportunities for their input in the center program
  • Supervises and coaches’ vocational trainers and MHPSS Specialist to oversee the practical performance of the beneficiaries
  • Manages, directs and maintains records of the material, supplies, equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily center routine. As well as organizes, oversees, and provides support to the various services, supplies, material, and equipment provided to carry out the center program.
  • The VTeC Supervisor provides the Vocational trainers and MHPSS specialist with a role in determining priorities for activities depending on the challenges and situations being identified
  • The VTeC supervisor makes use of community resources, and engages with other existing service providers
  • Observes, counsels, and motivates professional staff toward performances to attain the educational goals of the district.
  • Maintains effective communication to keep the staff, beneficiaries, and parents properly informed.
  • Keeps center records available and up to date for ready reference and reporting.
  • Plans andand conducts team meetings as necessary.
  • Affects or recommends changes which will lead to improved administration, supervision and opportunity for student development.
  • Reviews, authorizes, or disapproves authorizing all professional staff requests for instructional and PSS Support materials and equipment within the approved budget.
  • Maintains an educational philosophy and center climate which encourages a cooperative and participating attitude on the part of all trainers and beneficiaries, as well as enforces MHPSS support to enhance wellbeing of beneficiaries and their caregivers
  • Maintains a standard of student behavior designed to command respect and minimize center and classroom interruptions.
  • Closely cooperates with the MHPSS specialist on PSS activities and one to one support as well as awareness sessions to take place within the community and different beneficiaries (children, adolescents, caregivers, stake holders, etc…)
  • Ensures cooperation and collaboration is taking place between the educational and MHPSS teams to ensure a holistic approach being achieved

Preparing, Implementing and Coordinating training subjects & MHPSS activities:

  • Conceptualizes the broad goals of the vocational center and plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total center program.
  • Identifies the annual objectives for the instructional and MHPSS programs of the center.
  • Ensures that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed
  • Developing and administering the general center routine, and coordinate all activities within the center building.
  • Ensuring that the center program is compatible with the legal, financial and organizational structure of the center system.
  • Designing effective training programs and activities
  • Preparing educational material such as module summaries, videos etc. and supervise and support MHPSS Specialist to develop a PSS curriculum suitable for the needs of the beneficiaries
  • Plan, prepare and manage outdoor project spaces and technical installation, manage and implement security measures

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Evaluates student progress in the instructional program by means that include the maintaining of up-to-date student data.
  • Supervises and appraises the performance of the center staff.
  • Continually evaluating existing programs and practices, MHPSS activities, curriculum content, and pilot or experimental programs.
  • Encourages and initiates continued improvement in curriculum and teaching methods in cooperation with EiE Project Manager

Networking and Exchange with Stakeholders:

  • Encourages the use of community resources, cooperates with the community in the use of center facilities, interprets the center program for the community, and maintains communication with community members.
  • Identifies, analyses and engages stakeholders in the project
  • Coordinate & Facilitate 3rd party trainings/capacity building and coordinate & organise host of volunteer trainers and experts

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Background in education in addition to an experience in project management and team management
  • Humanitarian background or interest in humanitarian support towards children of all nationalities
  • Very good communication and Reporting skills
  • Experience in similar field and organizations
  • At least two years of experience as a team leader / supervisor for field teams functioning in humanitarian settings
  • Highly motivated and committed to support and assist refugee children regardless of their origin, affiliations and cultural background

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge in finance
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, French is an asset
  • Identification with the values of the organization and willingness to contribute to its aims
  • Hardworking, dedicated and able to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement capacity building training of staff on MHPSS and educational aspects
  • He/she is a communicative person, approachable, credible, confident, leadership qualities, ability to command respect & authority, good planner & organiser, good communicator, good attitude to SOS Philosophy
  • He/she demonstrates a positive role model, as well as conflict-solving behaviours. Acquires familiarity with creative methodologies and approaches in engaging with children.
  • Must be well organized with good oral and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task while prioritizing main objectives. He/she should have a professional manner, possess good interpersonal skills and a very strong work ethic. He/she is very emphatic, honest and possess the ability to convince people.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word & Excel) are required
