Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

Community Mobilization:

  • Conduct household interviews and focus group discussions to collect information as required,
  • Act as liaison between communities and the EiE, maintain good relationships with beneficiaries, caregivers and local stakeholders
  • Outreach to beneficiaries fitting into the criteria set by the EiE project, within the geographical area, and surrounding neighbourhoods
  • Arranges, provides and coordinates the delivery of services to children in strong partnership with other service providers
  • Keeps regular contacts with children and families during the educational enrolments through phone calls, home visits and meetings in programme premises

Psycho-Social Support & Life Skills Facilitator;

  • Plan & facilitate life skills psycho-social suport sessions according tp project requirements, beneficiaries needs & identified age groups
  • Promotes, ensures and establishes the child / adolescent as a central actor within the curricula implemented
  • Ensures child’s best interest is always ensured,
  • Ensures equal participation by girls and boys, children with specific needs, etc...
  • Ensures a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the center
  • Engage with caregivers to through group discussions, awareness raising sessions, etc.. to ensure holistic approach and involvement of caregivers within provided services to children and adolescents

Awareness, Support & Referral;

  • Refer identified benefciiaries requiring further one-to-one support or case management to MHPSS Specialist,
  • Refer beneficiaries with special needs to specialized NGOs according to predefined referral pathways in collaboration with MHPSS specialist
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of community child protection and education awareness raising sessiosn under the supervision of the MHPSS Specialist
  • Organizes further specialized awareness sessions in collaboration with specialized NGOs (Netowrking, Mapping and Referral)

Monitoring and Evaluation;

  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data required for the implementation and execution of EiE project activities
  • Ensure the execution of baseline, midline and endline evaluations within the curriculums provided to assess quality of services provided to beneficiaries
  • Reassesses periodically the child needs and progress in meeting the objectives defined by the MHPSS Specialist
  • Regularly monitors and documents data, ensures quality of data and uses is included in reports to track individual progress of children (within Life skills sessions)
  • Collects regularly information about different indicators of the programme unit and reports to MHPSS Specialist

Knowledge Management;

  • To perform all organizaitonal and administrative work related to outreach activtiies, including regular reporting to MHPSS Specialist
  • To participate in weekly team meetings with MHPSS team, and within VteC broad team meetings (where/when found applicable)
  • To ensure appropriate and adequate documentation of data collected (hard & soft copies)
  • Sharing of information within the field-level with the project’s team as lessons learned
  • Ensure proficiency in compiling weekly reports
  • Any other duties found related to the nature of the job as suggested by the MHPSS Specialist, VteC Supervisor and Project Manager.

  • He/she is a communicative person, approachable, credible, confident, leadership qualities, ability to command respect & authority, good planner & organiser, good communicator, good attitude to SOS Philosophy
  • He/she demonstrates a positive role model, as well as conflict-solving behaviours. Acquires familiarity with creative methodologies and approaches in engaging with children.
  • Must be well organized with good oral and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task while prioritizing main objectives. He/she should have a professional manner, possess good interpersonal skills and a very strong work ethic. He/she is very emphatic, honest and possess the ability to convince people.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word & Excel) are required.
