CLA/ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS

The CLA Roundtable discussions (7 to 12) are aimed at generating discussions on Positive Youth Development (PYD), PYD definitions, activities and initiatives, what PYD mean and stand for, vision and action for youth voice and engagement in Lebanon, PYD challenges and successes in USAID portfolio, etc. Examples of illustrative sessions could be the following:

  • Session 1: Introduction to PYD USAID / MENA / Lebanon
  • Session 2: Definitions, Strategies, and activities of PYD / Role of Youth Focal Person
  • Session 3: PYD during the COVOID-19 Challenges and Constraints
  • Session 4: Vision and action for Youth voice and engagement in Lebanon
  • Session 5: What are the challenges and constraints for youth integration in USAID projects
  • Session 6: What type of indicators we could use to track Youth involvement
  • Session 7: What elements we need to integrate in Youth Tool kit

The sessions will include participants 8 to 10 participants from the different IMs.

Duration: The duration of sessions will be around 2 hours.  It will include simple introductions to the session goals, objectives and outputs followed by contributions of each IM based on the proposed theme of the session.

Participants: Depending on the session, the IMs will be asked to join either at DO level or otherwise all the IMs together. The first 2 sessions, all the IMs will be present. In the follow-up sessions, the IMs might be divided into DO level in order to reduce session time and maximize on their presence.

CoVoid 19: In case of Co-void 19, the sessions will be held on-line through Zoom or Google hangout or even Microsoft teams. In case co-void restrictions are over, the sessions will be held within the office while trying to maintain social distancing. 

PYD TOOL KIT DEVELOPMENT

The PYD tool kit will be developed based on literature review, existing resources as well as discussions and presentations made by the different IMs.  The purpose of the tool kit is a practical guide for implementation of youth programs.  The tool kit will include different chapters and annexes to support the IMs in their work with youth. Examples of illustrative PYD tool kit chapters and annexes are the following[1]:

Chapter 1: A Framework to Measure Positive Youth Development (PYD) in USAID/Lebanon

Chapter 3: PYD Constructs and Illustrative Indicators

Chapter 3: Adapting PYD Measurement to Different Contexts / Dos/ Activities

Experience Requirement: PhD Degree in Social Sciences; Youth Engagement; Youth Empowerment; He/she will have previous experience working on youth related projects, generating tools and material for youth and or documenting youth practices within USAID or other donor projects. It is a necessary that he/she bring advanced knowledge of Lebanon youth programs, practices, lessons learned as well as a deep understanding of the challenges/opportunities facing this sector in Lebanon.
