Communication And Outreach Officer

CONTEXT

L'Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD) is a French development organization operating in the field of international solidarity. It has been present in Lebanon since 1989. Today, IECD and its local partners implement several programs for vocational training, access to education, support to small enterprises and health care projects.

 
The project "Platform for supporting Micro enterprises in Tripoli" aims to support micro enterprises’ owners from Tripoli and its region by reinforcing their competences in management. The aim is to reinforce the business skills of existing MSEs through training and personalized follow-up. A "Business Development Center" in Tripoli has been settled to provide micro enterprises owners with tailor made training in business management, provide micro enterprise owners with intense and individual follow-up, make available to micro enterprise owners relevant documentation and tools (library, computer and Internet, …), hold regular seminars related to micro enterprise development, link micro enterprises owners to relevant other organizations and institutions (micro credits, vocational training, Chamber of Commerce, …).
 
The resource center will work in partnership with local organizations and associations that work in the field of business development.
 
MISSION
 
Under the responsibility of the Project Manager, the Communication and Outreach Officer is responsible of the content and quality of the communication of the project. He/she should be able to develop strategies for both communication and outreach. The aim is to improve overall visibility of the project, and improve outreach and collaboration with potential organizations.
 

 Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks

 Communication

Carry out research towards target groups to understand their attitudes and perceptions.
Monitor forums, social media sites and press related to the project activities
Develop relationship with the local media and prepare press releases.
Plan content and write copy for publications such as brochures, leaflets, and newsletters.
Write content for website pages and scripts for presentations and videos.
Assist the project manager in the organization of any special event

 
Outreach

Mapping of potential beneficiaries in the Akkar, Denniyeh, Tripoli and Zgharta Region
Register beneficiaries through door to door prospection or other methods of outreach
Identify and establish relations with other relevant organizations involved and interested in economic development
Develop a database of potential partners and collaborators

 
 
 
 
PROFILE

Education: BA in Public Administration or Marketing, graphic design.
 
Languages and IT:
Excellent command of the pack office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Websites
Fluent in Arabic, fluent in French and/or English
 
Experience:
Minimum of 3-year experience in communication or outreach
Good marketing skills
 
Expected skills and qualities:
Strong autonomy and sense of initiative
Accountability
Strong organization skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with different groups: entrepreneurs, NGOs, micro-financing players.
Excellent writing and reporting skills
Adherence to the values of IECD: a focus on the person, a principle of service, a professional commitment
 

CONDITIONS

Status:  fixed-term contract (12 months)
Working hours: full time position – from Monday to Friday.
Location: Tripoli with occasional business trips in the areas where the project is implemented.
Under the supervision of: Project manager Salary: upon experience
