SUMMARY

The community worker will be responsible for helping those who are vulnerable to become engaged and tackle the problems that face their community. The community worker should recognize signs of abuse: physical, emotional or sexual and physical neglect, to be able to make considered decisions about how to act to safeguard or promote children’s wellbeing. The community worker will work with children and their families in a range of complex situations addressing issues such as resilience and recovery.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES, MAIN DUTIES AND REPORTING:

  • Work with community groups to provide a range of activities
  • Identify and build on communities’ assets and capacities
  • Implement the plan with SDCs
  • Conduct a daily variety of community based PSS activities within the ISs, catering to the needs of children of different ages and genders and accordingly to the IS activities weekly schedule;
  • Facilitate the participation of all the segments of the target population to the planned activities held at the assigned centers, notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring that proper attention is paid to specific emotional and physical needs;
  • Maintain daily attendance registers and a weekly and monthly inventory sheets for each activity conducted
  • Maintain and fill properly any distribution list or attendance lists for the activities conducted
  • Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centers when requested;
  • Informs the CP Officer about any difficulty met during activities implementation;
  • Monitor the wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any accordance in line with child protection policy and guidelines
  • Ensure the adoption of minimum standard required were the activities are implemented;
  • Ensure the respect of the code of conduct
  • Accomplish any other assignment given by the supervisor

 

REPORTS TO: CP Officer

 

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:

  • Experience working with street and working children
  • A university degree in social sciences or any other related field
  • Experience working with Syrian
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of implementing child protection programs preferably psychosocial activities, social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings;

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Ability to work on the street supporting psychosocial activities for street and working children;
  • Ability to work on the street at night conducting activities and supporting the team;

 

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Contract duration: 9 months full-time with possibility to renew;
  • Having a valid Lebanese/International driving license is a must;
