Job Title: Communication OfficerJob Overview:

The Communication Officer will serve as the liaison to the media, collector of documentary content about the mission, and in-house resource for information.

The post-holder will be responsible for collecting, packaging and conveying information about SAWA’s work and impact to a variety of stakeholders and audiences, including local media, existing and potential donors, and the general public. He/she is responsible for gathering and disseminating content - including photos, videos, and stories – to be used for promotional purposes and fundraising via printed materials, as well as online and broadcast mediums.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal point for the design and implementation of SAWA’s Communication and Visibility plan and strategy.
  • Pitch SAWA staff, stories, and notable developments or achievements to the different means of media 
  • Plan, coordinate, and host field visits made by partners, donors, and other interested parties
  • Produce success stories, human interest stories, and other relevant materials that help demonstrate successful impact of SAWA’s programs
  • Document SAWA activities and program achievements through photography, video, and written stories for use on the website, in fundraising appeals, in marketing materials and similar
  • Elaborate and update the content of SAWA website and social media taking into consideration socio cultural context for publication materials
  •  Monitors public opinion, views and news related to SAWA
  • Help prepare talking points and other information for field and presentation use
  • Support the development and organization of events and meetings aimed at raising SAWA’s profile, engaging new audiences in its work and strengthening its support base; ensure there is a coverage of every workshop, advocacy activity, meetings with stakeholders such as community hosts, local authorities and ministries, social workers and others
  • Manage SAWA visibility and branding efforts 
  • Network with communications groups and infrastructures in Lebanon as needed
  • Develop public relations, marketing and communications strategies and budgets for SAWA programs
  • Develop brochures and other publications and materials for publicity use, as needed
  • Assist field staff with editing reports, making them visually more attractive
  • Follow up and monitor SAWA budget specifically for communication and visibility lines; work closely with Finance department and Logistics department in respect of SAWA main framework such as procurement, ethical guidelines and anti-corruption.
  • Adhere to SAWA Professional Code of Conduct and the country employment policies
  • Provide regular briefing and feedback to program manager
  • Preform and oversee other duties as assigned by Program Manager
  • Maintain and update a SOP for communication

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing, Information Communication, Social Media or any other related field
  • A Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a Communication, PR or Journalistic role, preferably in humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation
  • Familiarity with Google Drive/Docs/Analytics/SEO/Ad words etc.
  • Skills in MS Office; preferably: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Experience working with NGOs
