SUMMARY

The Child Protection Officer is responsible to provide technical support and manage the FPSS Facilitator and community workers and ensure the good delivery of the activities. She/ He will be supporting the design, set-up and monitoring and evaluation of the program in the Baalbek and ensuring timely, effective and quality programming by sharing tools and resources and providing capacity building support and on-the-job coaching to the child protection staff. Internally the Child Protection Officer will be working closely with the program manager to oversee the Program implementation in the Baalbek region

RESPONSIBILITIES, MAIN DUTIES AND REPORTING:

  • Provide support to the street educators implementing weekly PSS Activities.
  • The CP officer will need to ensure that the planning of PSS activities matches procurement plans and procedures to implement PSS activities;
  • Conduct house visits and follow up on the street with street and working children as and when needed;
  • Support through referring to other service providers in coordination with team members;
  • Participate in weekly team meetings;
  • Daily coordination with key staff working on Child Protection cases, including social workers, FPSS facilitator and lawyers if we need help
  • Coordination with Child Protection WG and sub-working groups
  • Ensure systematic application of child protection standards and safeguarding policies
  • Monitoring visits at the field level on the application of Child Protection principles, the tools to be used are PSS child list and guidance note, Child Friendly Spaces Checklist, CB-PSS curriculum, and FPSS curriculum
  • Engage staff on regular basis to oversee work and ensure child protection and psychosocial activities are technically sound and respectful to standards of Child Protection
  • Report to Programme Manager on weekly tasks and key priority areas of work (TBD in consultation with Programme Manager)
  • Ensure training and capacity building of staff working with children, including but not limited to Code of Conduct and Psychological First Aid.
  • Follow up on data collection.
  • Focal Point for Child Safeguarding policy
  • Deliver any other responsibility assigned by Project Manager 

 

REPORTS TO:

Project manager and Donor focal point.

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:

  • Experience working with street and working children
  • Experience working with Syrian, Dom and Turkmen communities
  • Technical diploma or degree in social work, human rights, or related degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of implementing child protection programs preferably psychosocial activities, social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings;

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Solid reporting skills
  • Organized and strong attention to details
  • Proven communication skills in written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to work on the street supporting psychosocial activities for street and working children;
  • Ability to work on the street at night conducting activities and supporting the team;
  • Experience in managing and supporting staff development;
  • Demonstrated experience of planning and conducting children’s PSS activities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children;
  • Knowledge and experience in using and updating databases;
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting;
  • Staunch advocate of child protection and child rights;

 

EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS

Contract duration: 6 months full-time with possibility to renew;

Having a valid Lebanese/International driving license is a must;
