Clinical and Technical Protection officer

Sawa for Development and Aid is a Civil Society Organisation founded initially as a spontaneous initiative in December 2011 to respond to the arrival of the first 40 Syrian families displaced from Syria into the North of Lebanon.

This initiative then grew to include individual activists, locals and internationals, who worked together (literally meaning ‘Sawa’ in Arabic) to share their knowledge and exchange their experiences in order to support Syrians, internally displaced or refugees in neighbouring countries, united by their belief in their right to live in dignity and freedom, and to be active individuals in their communities, and wherever they are.

Sawa sees itself as part and parcel of the society, and that it is on a continuous learning journey based on a participatory relationship at all levels with the communities that it works with, whether host or displaced, as well as with local and international partners.

Sawa believes that humanitarian, developmental and civic work has to always strive to achieve social justice, and so it aims to work with individuals and communities through holistic interventions towards a society based on democracy, pluralism, and values of citizenship and human rights. 

Job Description:

1. Build a network with actors in the area of intervention to refer cases based on their needs to case management units or various types of therapy (speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, etc.)

1. Receive referrals from the PSS team and provide referred cases with psychotherapy where appropriate and follow up at community level according to the project plan.

1. Monitor the psychological progress of the program participants and review cases weekly with the protection staff and coordinator.

1. Participate in weekly meetings with the protection team, monthly team meetings with the organization’s staff, and any relevant training workshops, discussions, or activities.

1. Report on monthly progress to the protection coordinator.

1. Support in data collection, documentation, and tracking of sessions and referred cases.

1. Support project team in registration activities and M&E activities.

1. Take part in community outreach activities to encourage individuals to participate in the program.

1. Evaluate the sessions given by the social workers to provide further specific training through observations and the sessions’ reports.

1. Provide group and individual technical support for the social workers to conduct PSS sessions, plan/prepare the sessions, and work with specific cases.

1. Supervise the development of the PSS and GBV curriculum with the program coordinator and the Programs Manager and ensuring it is in line with international protection standards and with the organization’s policies.

1. Develop a capacity building plan for the social workers and the PSS staff and coordinate with the program coordinator to implement it.

1. Complete written documentation per program requirements, and in compliance with NGO’s policy and training.

Qualifications/Requirements, Knowledge and Experience

1.Essential degree or diploma in clinical Psychology, Master’s Degree preferred to be within the Ministry of Public Health, Lebanon as a licensed psychologist.

2. 3+ years experience.

3.Excelent Arabic and English languages.
