1.    Objectives  

RTP is seeking local civil society organizations to partner with them on at least one of the following objectives:

  • Increased integration of play-based learning by teachers to enhance children's reading skills (grades 1-4) in UNRWA schools
  • Increased supplemental reading practice of children in UNRWA schools
  • Improved safe and inclusive learning environments in UNRWA schools and local kindergartens
  • Increased enrollment in UNRWA schools  of children with disabilities previously out of school

 

2.   Responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables  

         A. Profile of prospective partner

  • Able to work and collaborate with UNRWA and Lebanese & Palestinian community stakeholders.
  • Able to lead extensive communication with educator groups to facilitate interpretation and implementation of curriculum guidelines, and to evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
  • Considers a variety of learning needs and preferences.
  • Respects the diversity of students.
  • Enables all students to take part in learning and fulfill their potential, regardless of the abilities.
  • Able to identify and address barriers to access education and learning especially when it comes to access for children with different abilities.
  • Considers inclusion a priority in the preparation of the educational program; so that all children can learn independently and achieve educational goals for all.
  • Able to design virtual activities to implement and collaborate with different community stakeholders and adopt the e-learning methodology when needed.
  • Able to provide qualitative and quantitative narrative reports on the implemented activities and specific period of the project (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
  • Able to provide accurate financial reports respecting deadline and aligned with to Right To Play policy.
  • Able to adopt/use new digitalization/technology for project management managed by Right To Play International.

       B. Tasks and deliverables  

Consultants/partners selected will have to start with this required deliverable. This deliverable will be conducted in the Palestinian camps and/or with UNRWA.

1- Assessment

a.  Conduct a participatory approach assessment with educational centers to identify the main curriculum gaps and delivery methods to improve grade 1-4 children’s literacy, inclusive learning environment and the effectiveness of e-learning modality.

b.  Lead online assessment with kindergartens (supervisor, teachers and caregivers), educational centers (supervisors, teachers and caregivers), and community (caregivers and children).

c. Provide a study report on the findings and recommendations for developing educational materials to support the current curriculum.

Each applicant needs to choose at least one set of the deliverables mentioned below where they can demonstrate expertise, manpower and effectiveness. All the deliverables will be conducted in the Palestinian camps and/or with UNRWA.

  1. Literacy and teaching
    1. Collaborate with UNRWA departments and specialists in education, learning support program, child protection, and training to set a holistic action plan. 
    2. Resource development: Modify the languages curriculum to integrate play-based methodology that serve the students’ need.
    3. Train teachers and responsible staff on how to use any developed curriculum for any changes and modification needed.
    4. Follow up with the teachers and specialists and get their feedback.  
    5. Deliver English language sessions for teachers/mothers to increase their speaking, writing, and reading skills. 
    6. Design and equip 2 libraries in 2 schools, with books, games, and material which encourage reading
    7. Train the teachers/parents/children on how to make the library more interactive.
    8. Form reading clubs at schools and conduct reading events throughout the scholastic year.

   3- Positive learning environment

a.  Design context-appropriate play days/events with children to enhance their literacy.

b.  Conduct peer to peer sessions for parents to increase awareness about the importance of education and education key messages.

  1. Access & Inclusion
    1. Collaborate with UNRWA departments regarding education, inclusive learning environment. 
    2. Modify the curriculum and integrate play-based methodology adapted to include children with different abilities.
    3. Trains teachers and responsible staff on how to use any developed curriculum and material related to inclusion.
    4. Follow up with the teachers and curriculum staff during the process and the school year.  
    5. Design play days and context-appropriate events with children to enhance inclusive learning environment at schools and kindergartens.
    6. Conduct peer to peer sessions for parents to increase awareness about the inclusion, children with abilities, the importance of their education, and any education key messages.
    7. Prepare a support package including transportation, yearly school payment, stationary and any other needed.
    8. Provide medical tools for children with abilities.

i.    Provide specialized one on one playful sessions for children with motor disabilities and their parents, to help children become more independent.

j.    Provide specialized PSS sessions, using play-based methodologies to children with disabilities and their parents, to support them in kindergarten and school inclusion.

        C.  Process /timeline 

  • The collaboration will take the form of a consultancy or grant agreement, depending on the capacity of the organization selected. The detailed process/timeline would be discussed with each organization during the selection process.
  • The process for the creation of project material will be conditional on compatibility between the different collaborative parties. All parties should agree on all the created materials; so close follow up would be requested to enhance understanding and compatibility.

        D. Restrictions 

  • Any license may not be sold, re-sold, or transferred to any third party or subsequent corporation without different parties' approval.

  1. Qualifications of the consultant partner

A consultant partner is needed who should have the following competencies and experience: 

  • Proven 5 years and more of experience and knowledge in any of these fields "literacy, inclusive learning, e-learning/digital learning field & assessment mechanism".
  • Verified knowledge and experience in resource development, curriculum design taking into consideration the technical and pedagogical aspects.
  • Evidence of experience in conducting training/coaching sessions with participants who work with vulnerable communities on any of these fields "literacy, inclusion, leading digital classes & assessment mechanism".
  • Proven 5 years and more of experience and knowledge in the child protection referral mechanism and gender equality.
  • Evidence of experience in conducting training/coaching sessions with participants who work with vulnerable communities on child protection, gender equality & inclusion.
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of principles of equity, participation and inclusion
