Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is a non-profit, non-political and non religious humanitarian NGO. Its objective is to bring about a global response to the basic needs of populations suffering from acute humanitarian crisis and to allow them to recover their autonomy and dignity. In close respect to humanitarian principles, PU-AMI promotes humanitarian access and dialogue with all components of the civil society in Lebanon, and delivers assistance based on the needs, regardless of religion, politics, and ethnic matters.  

 

Today, PU-AMI is intervening in 21 countries in Africa, the Near East, Caucasus, Asia and the Caribbean to cover the needs of populations affected by conflict, natural disasters or economic crises.

 

PU-AMI in Lebanon has been implementing emergency and recovery projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, in Shelter Rehabilitation, Health and in Livelihood Recovery sectors.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Under the direct supervision of the Inclusion and Community Health Team Manager, the Community Health Supervisor - Nurse is responsible for the set-up and activities development of the community health network; and all community health intervention and outreach approach as based on PU-AMI Health intervention strategy in supported catchment area of PHCC and other priority assigned areas.

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

  • Activities implementation

    • Lead the scale up plan for developing the community health network in the areas assigned in the project intervention framework.

    • Lead the implementation process of the tracking system for referrals from the community to the PHCC and liaise with the Health Field Officer for the activities related to referral with the PHCC (e.g. follow up special cases, immunization dropouts).

    • Ensure that Community Health Volunteers have the necessary information on the referral system and provided services and properly understand the activities to be implemented in the framework of the project.

    • Responsible of preparation and provision of trainings to Community Health Volunteers on thematic of public health importance for the community and relevant aspects for the collaborative work with the Community Health Volunteers, midwives and social workers.

    • Responsible of the all community health interventions and activities defined, s/he follows up on the masterwork plan together with the Inclusion and Community Health Team Manager.

    • Report immediately any difficulty or delay faced in the implementation of activities to the direct manager.

    • Cooperate with MEAL Department to conduct any MEAL related activities (such as surveys, field feedbacks, and lessons learnt exercise among others).

    • Liaise with the IM Officer to make sure data registration is accurate on hard and digital copies.

    The Nurse will support training modules for building the capacity of the Community Health Volunteers - and other assigned staff - in their area of expertise/topic.

    • Monitor Community Health Clubs’ session and provide feedback to Community Health Volunteers to improve their performance.

Team Management

• Supervise Community Health Volunteers and ensure the timely implementation of their activities.

• Coordinate the work of all Community Health Volunteers: work plans, progress toward targets, and frequency of submitting collected data.

• Ensure coordination with PU-AMI Staff and stakeholders concerning community intervention activities.

• Support Community Health Volunteers in improving their performance.

• Routine field visits to monitor Community Health Volunteers activities and Community Health Clubs.

• Continuously collect feedback from Community Health Volunteers and other related staff.

 

Logistic & administration

• Define the needs in materials and tools required to conduct trainings, health campaigns and outreach activities.

• Organize and coordinate training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.

 

Reporting & Data collection

• Collect and report information on identified cases from Community Health Volunteers.

• Identify the number of assessed individuals by the Community Health Volunteers progress towards assigned target.

Document and report training sessions and feedback from participants.

Document and report Community Health Clubs’ sessions and feedback from participants.

• Responsible of compile and report to the direct superior data on a weekly, monthly, quarter and annual basis or upon request.

A. UNDERSTAND THE HOST COMMUNITY AND THE STATUS OF THE SYRIAN REFUGEES DISTRIBUTION AND CONTEXT

B. SET UP ACCORDING TO SCALE UP PLAN THE COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK IN THE ASSIGNED CATCHMENT AREA SUPPORTED BY PU-AMI.

C. IN COORDINATION WITH THE INCLUSION AND COMMUNITY HEALTH TEAM MANAGER, WILL BE IN CHARGE OF DEVELOPMENT AND PROVISION OF INTENSIVE TRAINING CURRICULUM ALL YEAR AROUND FOR Community Health Volunteers AND OTHER KEY STAFF FOR THE COMMUNITY HEALTH INTERVENTION

D. PROVIDE CONSOLIDATED AND QUALITY REPORTS ON WEEKLY, MONTHLY AND COMPILE MONTHLY AND ANNUAL REPORTS OR ANY AD HOC REQUESTED DATA

E. PROVIDE CONTINUOUS FEEDBACK TO THE STAFF AND ON LINE SUPERIOR ON CHALLENGES, LESSONS LEARNT FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ON BETTER HEALTH CARE AT COMMUNITY LEVEL

 

Mandatory requirements

  • Language skills: Fluent in Arabic (English or French is an asset)
  • Education degree: Nursing Diploma, certified by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon
  • Work experience: Proven experience working as a nurse; preferably experience working in NGOs.
  • Knowledge and skills:
  • Good knowledge of  Lebanon governorate geography, willingness  to work at the community level
  • Excellent knowledge of counseling pregnant and lactating women
  • Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations
  • Literacy in reporting, experience in conducting surveys
  • Computer skills: Excellent knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Other: Valid driving license (1 year minimum)
