Role

The purpose of the finance officer position is to be responsible for the transparent management of the accounting of the Geneva Call support unit based in Beirut, Lebanon, in accordance with the internal procedures and guidelines, as well as the local legislation.

Activities

Reporting line

The Finance Officer reports to the Head of Office.

Responsibilities

Promote compliance with Geneva Call policies, tools and handbooks.

Responsible for financial management

Lead on financial management in Geneva Call’s support unit office.

Manage the book keeping and closing of financial accounts.

Budget preparation and financial monitoring.

Take the lead in periodic and annual financial reporting.

Being responsible for payments and financial control

Take the lead in checking the procurement documents of vendors.

Make all payments to vendors on time, making sure all documents are complete.

Pay staff salaries after reviewing and verifying details.

Make sure donor requirements are satisfied.

Main Qualifications

Education

Accountant or Diploma in Accounting and finance

Generic skills/competencies

At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.

Accuracy and reliability.

Ability to take on responsibilities, proactive and efficient approach to work, advanced communication skills.

Previous experience of working in complex and volatile contexts.

Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.

Good command of English and Arabic.

Experience working with an international NGO is an asset.

Specific skills/competences

Experience in budgeting, financial reporting and documentation.

Knowledge and experience of using accounting tools.

Knowledge and experience in HR administration will be an asset.

IT Tools (MS Office, Excel, reporting tools).

Financial management tools, accounting systems.

The position is based in Beirut, with travel in the region.
