The Nawaya Network is an NGO based in Beirut that develops the skills of underprivileged Lebanese and refugee youth. One of our programs is called GIL: Generation of Innovation Leaders, in partnership with UNICEF.  The program is designed to address the high youth unemployment rates and the inaccessibility of the knowledge economy for the youth population across Lebanon.

At Nawaya, marginalized youth are trained in Design Thinking for 9 days and Business Development for another 9 days, and throughout the 18 days youth come up with a project idea and they refine it to become a viable project. After the initial training phase, youth with a viable project idea are chosen for the incubation phase where they receive further funding and support to launch their projects.

 
Training description:
  • Conduct a training for 3 hours over the span of 10 days 
  • Based in Nabatiyeh with frequent travel to other areas in the South (Sour, Saida, Nasriyet Rizk, Khiam, Sibline)
  • Train youth between the ages of 18 to 24 in business development 
  • Attend the last day of Design Thinking so that the trainer is familiar with the teams' projects
  • Have some background in idea development and ideation (Design Thinking is a plus)
  • Support youth teams closely in developing their project idea, business plan, and budget
  • Assist youth with pitching skills
  • Motivate the youth 
  • Work with the youth on Lean methodology, SWOT Analysis, Business Model Canvas, etc..
  • Attend Nawaya's Training of Trainers’ workshop (when the date is set)

 

Qualifications and Experience:
 
  • Min.  Bachelor Degree in business, finance or related field
  • Min. 2-3 years of experience in business development, entrepreneurship or related fields.
  • Solid communication skills and participatory training skills
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is a must.
  • Experience in running a startup or an SME is a plus
  • Motorized (Have a car) - Essential
