G.    Background of the Women Can Do It project:

Women Can Do It (WCDI) is a collaboration program between the Norwegian
Labor Party’ Women Network, Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and local partner organizations. Since 2001, the WCDI program has been implemented into around 24 countries in Central East Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia, including in the Middle East.

The project is based on the manual “Women Can Do It” which was produced by the Women Network in Norway in the 1980s. The manual has been translated into more than 20 languages, including in Arabic. Local manuals have also been produced in different countries.

Within its design, this program strongly challenges the dynamics of male dominated culture. Because women represent half of the society, it is their right and their duty to be equally part of this society. Currently, women are systematically underrepresented in decision-making positions in Lebanon and in the Palestinian community in Lebanon. The goals of the project are to empower, motivate and encourage the leaders/members of NGOs, women’s organizations and women groups in Lebanon, including the Palestinian community in Lebanon in order to increase women's participation in society, especially in politics.

H.    Objective of the training workshop:

Develop and deliver two-day training to a group of 24 women who are members in the popular committees in the Palestinian camps in Beirut, North and Beqaa. The training should provide women with knowledge, skills and tools to become more involved and play an active role in their community. Training should help the trainees to start concrete steps to become visible and active in their society, and involve participants in the decision-making processes, planning and/or implementation in their camp and in a later stage at the national level.
As a result, the training will contribute to the empowering of the group of Palestinian women with knowledge and skills which will help them in their role in the popular committees.
As a result of the training, the trainees would be acquainted:
-      To improve their knowledge on Convention Eliminating all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
-       To improve their role and performance in the popular committees and the Palestinian camps;
-       To enhance their positions within their political parties and fractions;
-      To increase their participation in public and political sphere in the Palestinian community.

I. Duties and responsibilities:
In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, the contracted trainer will:

Develop the concept of the training and teaching tools (including agenda, working methods, handout, presentations, and evaluation forms) which will be discussed with NAJDEH’s Project Team;
Advise on background materials to be distributed;
Draft the final training workshop program;
Develop the list of equipment and materials which is necessary for carrying out training sessions.
Deliver the training in professional well organized way;
Elaborate and submit a final report in English on the training workshop within a period not exceeding 15 days.
