Introduction about MSF:
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people in 70 countries who are affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation and our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of neutrality and impartiality.
Job purpose:
To understand the designed EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system in both Bar Elias and South Beirut projects, provide tools (user manuals) for all end users, and to be able to trouble shoot in case of technical problems.
Main responsibilities:
- To write and edit end users manuals for all different end user categories (MDs, nurses, para-medical staff, data managers, directors, etc)
- Train all end users
- Troubleshoot in case of IT problems within the EMR system
- As a technical author:
1) To assess the audience and the nature of the documentation by:
- attending planning/briefing meetings
- collaborating with developers and managers to clarify any technical issues
2) Research and gather the information required by:
- using the product or service in question to understand the technology and applications for which documentation is being prepared
- gather and analyze the information needs of the user
3) Present the information by:
- organize the information according to your user's needs
- write and edit text
- commission, coordinate or prepare illustrations
- use a variety of software applications to present the information
- index and catalogue material
- As an adhoc trouble shooter:
- Create a trouble reporting system
- Understand the technical problem and address this in a timely manner.
- Instruct the respective end user(s) in order to avoid future similar problems
Education
Diploma in IT, or Programming, or Software development
Experience
- 1-3 years’ experience in software programming (preferably in a medical setting)
- Proven knowledge of MS Access and VBA. Experience of working with publications software such as Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Visio and Illustrator
- Previous experience with hospital software systems is an asset
- Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs
- Proven experience in writing guidelines or user manuals, either for companies or any writing assignments that show ability to communicate with the reader (a portfolio even).
Languages
- Fluent in English and Arabic
Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of computer maintenance, networks and IT protocols, main email systems (Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Lotus), IT Security Tools (Anti-virus, Firewall, Anti-spyware, back ups)
