Founded in 2011, MARCH is a local non-profit non-governmental organization working to promote social cohesion and advocating for personal freedoms and dignities. Its fight against arbitrary and unjust censorship practices manifested itself through numerous initiatives across the years. In 2012, MARCH founded the Virtual Museum of Censorship, a digital platform that documents all censored or banned artistic and cultural works in Lebanon. The curated content acts as a public database allowing citizens to have access to information –a fundamental and intrinsic right.
To that end, MARCH is seeking to recruit a part-time researcher with an academic background in fine-arts, audiovisual studies or other related fields* to:
- Build on the Virtual Museum of Censorship’s existent database by consulting university/press and/or online open source archives in addition to any other form of digital documentation available (e.g. YouTube).
- Maintain regularly update the platform’s database by closely monitoring any new infractions pertaining to censorship on arts and culture.
