Description: 

1. Identify safe spaces to provide community based PSS (CB PSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level

2. Ensure CB PSS is delivered in line with global minimum standards and national inter-agency SOPs/standards

3. Identify vulnerable children and caregivers in need of CB PSS in line with inter-agency selection criteria

4. Identify Community Focal Points and members of Community Based Groups to deliver CB PSS as facilitators

5. Provide coaching, mentoring and training to CB PSS Facilitators during a 2-month training program on CB PSS curriculum for children and caregivers

6. Deliver CB PSS to children and caregivers as part of the CB PSS Facilitators 2-month training program. Successively handing over the direct facilitation of sessions to the facilitator

7. Provide technical capacity building on PSS, CP and GBV protection concepts, safe identification and referral and confidentiality and informed consent

8. Follow-up on the capacity building of CB PSS Facilitators’ facilitation skills, adult and child learning and development basic principles and developing new sessions throughout the year using the methodology provided by the Community Based PSS sub-committee and incorporating key CP and GBV messages as necessary

9. Ensure CB PSS Facilitators, Community Based Groups identify and refer children and caregivers in need of case management to CP case management on a monthly basis

10. Ensure CB PSS Facilitators, Community Based Groups identify and refer children in and caregivers in need of Focused PSS to relevant Focused PSS sessions

11. Ensure the CB PSS Facilitators are trained to adapt activities and methodologies and take the needed steps to include children with special needs

12. Review the training and coaching plan together with the Facilitator and agree on areas in need of strengthening on a weekly basis during the first month of the training program and on the final session during the second month of the training program

13. Determine the readiness of the community Facilitator to implement independently

14. Update the capacity building plan of Facilitators on a monthly basis

15. Observe CB PSS Facilitators’ implementation mid-year to evaluate the progress on the capacity building plan and at end of year for a final evaluation

16. Continue to provide support to community based groups to conduct sensitization sessions and events on child protection key messages in a participatory and empowering manner

17. Ensure the proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) during CB PSS (attendance sheets, permission slips, parental consent, referrals etc.)

18. Ensure that ALL children and caregivers accessing CB PSS and identified as being at high risk are referred to focused PSS and case management

19. Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders;

20. Deliver Parenting curriculum to caregivers of children attending focused PSS

21. Perform any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the PSS Officer and Project coordinator.

Experience and technical competencies:

2 to 3 years of experience in provision of Psychosocial support activities with children and caregivers
At least 1-year experience providing coaching, training and mentoring on PSS activities with children and caregivers
At least 1-year experience working with community based groups implementing protection activities
Excellent knowledge of child protection and GBV and PSS basic principles
Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of CP and GBV cases at all times
Excellent gender and age appropriate facilitation skills, child development and adult learning techniques, and good knowledge of GBV, child protection and PSS basic principles
Excellent knowledge of child development and adult learning techniques
Excellent capacity building, training, coaching and mentoring skills
Excellent knowledge of the negative impacts of child labor on child development
Excellent knowledge of the worst and other forms of child labor
Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Ability to work flexible hours
Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus
