Lebanon Support is an action-oriented, non-profit research centre for and about civil society.
We are a multidisciplinary space creating synergies and bridging between researchers, experts, civil society and NGO practitioners, and activists. Lebanon Support aims to foster social change through innovative uses of social science, digital technologies, and publication and exchange of knowledge.
We achieve our action-oriented mission through 3 main programs:

Background

Lebanon Support has launched the Civil Society Knowledge Centre (CSKC) in 2013. The CSKC is the first and most developed online research and information platform for civil society organisations, professionals, academics, and activists in Lebanon. Composed of thematic projects combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, the CSKC constitutes a seminal and innovative knowledge base and publishing platform for original research and analysis on civil society work and issues, and serves for civil society cooperation and collaboration. The CSKC makes available original research and analysis (papers, reports, etc.), interactive mappings, info-graphic visuals, and aggregated thematic libraries, among others.

Main Tasks:

The Research and Programme Coordinator ensures the overall, strategic and day-to-day management of the Civil Society Knowledge Centre (CSKC) and its smooth functioning. This position will have a strong emphasis on Migration.

Under the direct supervision of the executive team, the Research and Programme Coordinator’s main tasks include:

1) Project Coordination, Management and Monitoring

Provide coordination, effective management, and leadership to Lebanon Support’s Civil Society Knowledge Centre, to achieve the greatest impact possible, in accordance with the programme strategy as well as projects agreements;

Ensure projects’ teams and counterparts are continuously involved, consulted and informed of ongoing progress;

Establish work plans, set performance targets and indicators, and identify challenges and strategies to achieve programme and project aims in coordination with the relevant team members;

Support the higher management in coordination and research design, and in implementing all research activities in collaboration with the LS team, external collaborators, and researchers.

 

2) Research and Technical Support

Undertake desktop and fieldwork research, develop, or contribute to research or publications

Contribute to the development and review of programme related internal materials, and tools, as well as publications prior to dissemination.

Identify synergies as well as opportunities across Lebanon, the region and globally,  to enhance opportunities for knowledge sharing as per Lebanon Support’s mandate, and liaise with research centres, universities and think tanks.

 

3) Grants Management and Resource Mobilisation

Participate in Lebanon Support’s resource mobilisation efforts and lead on these efforts for the CSKC programme, and on migration more specifically;

Track deliverables and communicate the project's progress to the Director, higher management, as well as external partners and donors, in collaboration with the other Lebanon Support units;

Review financial progress, identify realignments where needed, and ensure resources are being effectively and efficiently used;

Ensure implementation is in compliance with Lebanon Support’s internal policies as well as donors’ policies and procedures.

 

4) Coordination and Representation

Represent Lebanon Support with partner organisations;

Act as focal point and liaison between Lebanon Support’s different programmes and units as well as other stakeholders, where necessary;

Coordinate and work closely with research partners in collaboration with the Director of Publications and the Director.

Requirements 

Excellent research and analytical skills and a very good academic record;

Outstanding writing, editing and analytical skills and ability to formulate well-targeted policy recommendations;

Excellent management and coordination skills; 

Fluency in English, and Arabic are minimum requirements. Knowledge of French is highly desirable;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including good public presentation skills, and a very strong capacity for effective teamwork.

Education Degree Details:
Master’s degree in social sciences (political science, sociology, anthropology) or equivalent through experience is a minimum requirement. PhD candidates or fresh PhD graduates with relevant publications (in lieu of professional experience) can also apply. In-depth academic and practitioner knowledge on migration issues is a must.
