The Long Road to Reforming Personal Status Laws in Lebanon
For years, the feminist and women’s movements in Lebanon have strived to expose gender based discriminations inherent to personal status laws, and have advocated for civic laws. The third Gender Afterworks is organised in partnership with Kafa (Enough) Violence & Exploitation, and will discuss personal status laws in Lebanon, and how they affect women’s lives and rights.
The discussion will be led by:Ms Leila Awada: Lawyer, founding member of Kafa (enough) Violence & Exploitation, and head of the Legal Unit at Kafa.*A judge or lawyer might be confirmed as guest speaker at a later stage.*

Gender Afterworks are an open informal café for discussion, aiming at creating informal spaces for discussion between scholars, experts, practitioners, activists and the general public on themes pertaining to gender in Lebanon.

لسنوات، سعى الحراك الحقوقي والنسوي في لبنان لإظهار التمييز الجندري الكامن في قوانين الأحوال الشخصية، والدعوة إلى قوانين مدنية. الجلسة النقاشية الثالثة لـ "قهوة الجندر"تُنَظَّم بالشراكة مع منظمة كفى عنف واستغلال، وتتناول قوانين الأحوال الشخصية في لبنان وتركيبتها وتأثيرها على النساء وحقوقهنّ.
يدير النقاش:
الأستاذة ليلى عواضة: محامية وعضوة مؤسسة في منظمة كفى عنف واستغلال، ومسؤولة الوحدة القانونيّة في مركز الدّعم في كفى.
