GVC is an Italian non-governmental, non-profit organization that has worked in the field of international cooperation through sustainable development and humanitarian intervention since the 1970s. It was established in Bologna in Italy. It is currently active in more than 20 countries globally through 50 projects that are implemented in various areas of development in partnership with local organizations and institutions.

LUPD is a grassroots organization built by and for people with disabilities. We believe that we have an important role to play in arriving at our vision of society by working with people with disabilities, a population that has been traditionally marginalized. As such, our specific mission is the following:
• To defend the rights of people with disabilities; more specifically to work towards their access to equal opportunities and a quality life and to ensure that their basic needs (health, education, employment, socio-economic integration, freedom of choice) are fully respected and guaranteed;
• To eradicate marginalization and gender discrimination from the lives of people with physical disabilities;
• To mobilize people with physical disabilities to speak on their own behalf;
• To promote the spread of a culture of inclusion and right of participation;

 

SCALE - Social Cohesion through Accessible Learning Environments (funded by AICS)

 

We World-GVC will cooperate with LUPD – Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities – a non-governmental organisation founded by people with disabilities to promote social and economic inclusion of people with special needs under the Social Cohesion through Accessible Learning Environments project with AICS funding.

 

Description of project:

To Promote access to education service and social inclusion of vulnerable Syrian and Lebanese children and with special needs guaranteeing suitable accessible and inclusive school facilities and protected environments created through game-based/recreational activities involving communities of target areas.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES:

1.      Task 1: Provide technical assessment on adaptaion of physical enviroment and Beneficiaries
The inclusion work involves a series of sessions and activities which should be implemented. These activities include assessment of physical enviroment, awareness raising and assessments of barriers in inclusion. 

1.1.  Excute technical assessment of physical enviroment.
1.2.  Adjust assessment, including assessment of facilities and infrastructures and staff knowledge, attitudes and practices.
1.3.  Lead the implementation of barriers assessments.
1.4.  Implement specific community-based assessments to identify community attitudes affecting inclusion and social participation of persons with physical and functional impairments, such as focus groups or interviews.
1.5.  Provide technical input on required adaptations, adaptive devices and needed adjustments.
1.6.  Ensure the engagement of persons with physical and functional limitations and their families in the identification and analysis of barriers to Inclusion.
1.7. Have full Knowledge of the adaptation needs of people with disabilities in the inclusion concept.

Task 2: Promoting and enlarging inclusive service provision at field level is part of the responsibilities.
2.1.  Contribute to the design of an advocacy strategy to enhance inclusion of people with specific needs.
2.2.  Disseminate messages on inclusion of people with disability to external actors.
2.3.  Produce reports of activities and propose new activities to reinforce the advocacy component.
2.4.  Contribute to working groups and other forums that promote inclusion.

    Task 3: Data Collection and Reporting
Produce specific report of the activities’ executed in the fields. All reports should be precise and maintain formats and structures provided by the Manager.
3.1.  Update regularly and with precision activity follow up tools.
3.2.  Produce reports
3.3.  Report any problem or constraints and propose improvements
3.4.  Collect information 
3.5.  Write reports on collected information

4.      Task 4: Others
 Confidentiality and promotion of organizational values.
4.1.  Demonstrate motivation at work and willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions, capacity building activities
4.2.  Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor (reporting, etc.)
4.3.  Respect confidentiality
4.4.  Address needs and requests in a professional way
4.5.  Report any incident or act that causes any harm to others
