Step-Up Program Academic Coordinator
The Continuing Education Centre at American University of Beirut (AUB) and The Lebanese Down Syndrome Association (LDSA) are collaboratively running an adapted inclusive university program for young people with special learning needs to support their transition into the workforce.  This academic program is based on the Life Centered Education program and similar such university programs offered by institutions such as Lesley University, USA.
The Step-Up program was launched as a pilot program in March 2015, and emphasizes applied experiential learning as well as traditional academic scholarship.
Job Description:
The Academic Coordinator of this program is expected to:

Oversee the appropriate development of curricula that are responsive to the students’ contexts and serve the program’s aims of providing transition to the workplace.
Supervise the program team and the implementation of the program, ensuring all objectives are being met.
Support instructors in trouble-shooting issues related to developing lesson plans, individual learning plans, or managing classrooms of young adults with special learning needs.
Oversee and contribute to networking with resources persons from private sector partners and other faculties at AUB to provide special sessions or on-site practicum experience that contribute to classroom teaching and program objectives.
Set out and implement plans for student recruitment and retention activities.
Act as the educational evaluator of the program; establish and chair a multidisciplinary committee to assess the overall progress of students.
Participate in the Core Program Planning Committee formed of CEC-REP, LDSA and other core members.
Compile regular progress reports of all program activities and achievements.

Requirements:

Graduate degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Psychology or other related fields.
Minimum of 5 years experience in program management.
A strong record of engagement with young people with intellectual disabilities or special learning needs and their parents.
A good record of working in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
