The Project:

In partnership with the Forum for Civil Peace Service (forumZFD), LAH is conducting the project “From Local History to a Wider Understanding of the Past”. The project aims to (1) enrich knowledge about the Civil War period and (2) engage diverse groups in inclusive conversation about the war. Focus on different communities in Mount Lebanon that have experienced armed conflict and violence during the Civil War period, the project will work with a small number of public and private schools, supporting the implementation of oral history documentation projects. Further, LAH is conducting a number of other projects and training programmes in regards to history education.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The project coordinator will be part of LAH, i.e. will be managed within the organisation’s structure, and is expected to act as an active member, yet will be based at both partner organisations, with the majority of time spent at LAH.

Relating to the joint partnership project, the project coordinator will be:

-Responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the joint project, including but not limited to defining project tasks and resource requirements, mange timelines and project resources.

-Coordinating between the different actors involved, e.g. school administrations, teachers, external consultants and the project team, and ensuring the work quality from all actors.  

-Providing direction and support to the project team, and maintaining constructive communication among them.

-Ensuring the implementation of the M&E framework, accumulating information from the project team for the quarterly monitoring rounds, compiling reports, and communicating progress to all involved stakeholders

-Providing logistical support for all project phases including but not limited to booking of venues, hotels, compiling materials, and communicating with participants.

-Liaising with the person(s) in charge of the financial administration of the project to ensure proper management of financial resources.

-Supporting the establishment of school partnerships, incl but not limited to drawing up cooperation criteria for schools, and coordinating the respective working group

-Acting as focal point for schools once the partnership is established, being responsible for the day-to-day management of the partnerships

-Acting as focal point for teachers

-Supporting the Visibility of the project to increase exposure, e.g. by preparing press releases, and follow-ups with media consultant

 

Relating to other projects and training programmes of LAH, the project coordinator will be:

-Responsible for the implementation of a LAH-CERD training programme on inclusive learning in history education. The program involves a three-days training program to be offered in three educational regions. 

-Supporting LAH in the implementation of other projects and trainings.

Your Profile:

 -Master of Arts degree or equivalent, preferably in education
-3-5 years of experience in project management
-Experience in the field of education is desirable
-Proven skills in project planning and implementation, and coordination of a project team
-Sound communication skills, i.e. ability to interact with different types of actors
-Strong capacity for critical thinking and creative problem solving
-Capacity to work in a team, while being a self-starter and able to take and carry out decisions when required
-Ability to adopt easily to change
-Excellent verbal and written command of Arabic and English
-Sound IT skills and proficiency in project management software
-Driving Licence
