تطوير قدرة معلّمي التاريخ على تنمية التفكير التاريخي
 
تطلق الهيئة اللبنانية للتاريخ مشروعها الشامل "تطوير قدرة معلّمي التاريخ على تنمية التفكير التاريخي" الذي سيجري على امتداد السنة الدراسية 2014 – 2015.  يمنح هذا البرنامج التدريبي المكثّف الفرصة لـ 18 من معلّمي ومعلّمات التاريخ  لتعلّم نظريات وطرائق تعليم التاريخ كمجال معرفي وتطبيقها وتطويرها.    
 
يقدّم البرنامج نهجا جديدا في بيداغوجيا التاريخ في لبنان من خلال إعادة  تركيز تعليم  التاريخ على التفكير التاريخي. كما يقدّم مفاهيم التفكير التاريخي ويوفّر للمعلّمين فرصة اعتمادها وتجربتها في الصفوف. وتُدخل الأنشطة الصفيّة  التعلّم المبني على البحث، واستعمال المستندات المتنوّعة، وعمليات النقاش المنظّمة والمدركة حول معاني الماضي. ومن خلال تعزيز التعاون ودعم الأقران بين المعلّمين المشاركين،  يهدف البرنامج إلى تنمية مجتمع من المتعلمين.
 
يتضمّن برنامج التطوير المهني الذي سيخضع له المرشحون الذين يتمّ اختيارهم سلسلة من مشاغل التدريب تليها جلسات للارشاد والتأمّل، وذلك  بدءا من أيلول 2014 حتى تمّوز 2015.  يقوم بتيسير المشاغل اثنان من الخبراء المتميّزين في هذا المجال وهما د. أرثر شابمان من معهد التعليم في جامعة لندن وكريستين كاونسيل من جامعة كامبريدج في بريطانيا، الذان سيعملان عن قرب مع أخصائيين من الهيئة اللبنانية للتاريخ. ويتولّى أخصائيو الهيئة ارشاد ودعم المعلّمين المشاركين في البرنامج، والذين سيقومون بدورهم بدعم بعضهم البعض.   
 
ندعو معلّمي التاريخ المندفعين وذوي الخبرة في الحلقتين الثالثة والرابعة في الدارس الرسمية أو الخاصة في كافة المحافظات للتقدّم بطلباتهم لاختيار المجموعة المؤلّفة من 18 معلّما ومعلّمة. يشترط على المشاركين التمتّع بمستوى جيّد في الانكليزية. وستتم عمليات الاختيار بناء على مقابلات مع المرشحين المختارين ومحادثات مع مدراء المدارس لضمان التزام المدرسة بالمشروع.

Developing History Teachers’ Capacity to Foster Historical Thinking
 
The Lebanese Association for History is launching a comprehensive Professional Development project “Developing History Teachers’ Capacity to Foster Historical Thinking” which will take place over one academic year 2014 - 2015.  This training program offers an opportunity for 18 history teachers to benefit from an exhaustive training program where they will learn about new theories and pedagogies for teaching history.
The program introduces a new approach to history pedagogy in Lebanon and proposes refocusing history education on historical thinking. The project intends to introduce the concepts of historical thinking and provides opportunities for teachers to apply and experience these concepts. It involves the introduction of inquiry-based learning and the use of a variety of resources in teaching history, and the processes of rigorous enquiry and debate about the meanings of the past. The project also aims to develop a community of learners by promoting collaboration and peer mentoring amongst the group of selected teachers.
The professional development program consists of a series of training modules accompanied by mentoring, starts in September 2014 until July 2015.  The training modules will be facilitated by two renowned experts in the field, Dr. Arthur Chapman from the Institute of Education, University of London and Christine Counsell from the University of Cambridge who will work closely with experts from the Lebanese Association for History (LAH). The mentoring will be provided by a team of local specialists from LAH, and teachers participating in the program who are expected to support their peers.
We are seeking 18 experienced and highly motivated cycle 3 and 4 history teachers, with a good level in English, from public and private schools in the six governorates. The selection process will take place following interviews with the shortlisted candidates and after discussions with the school principal in order to ensure the school’s commitment to the project.  A high level of commitment is expected from participants themselves.
