KAFA's focus areas are: Family violence; Exploitation and trafficking in women, especially in migrant domestic workers and women in prostitution; Child protection, particularly from sexual and gender-based violence.

About the project:

Since 2013, KAFA has partnered with UNICEF in a project titled “Protecting children, adolescents and women from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing the protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from GBV (early marriage, sexual abuse...), through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness on how to protect themselves from GBV. The project is ongoing for the sixth consecutive year.

In 2019, KAFA will continue its partnership with UNICEF in the same project through operating an Adolescent Friendly Space in Chtaura and the Support Center (SC) in Bekaa and Badaro. The SC welcomes children, adolescents and women victims of violence and provides them with legal, social and psychological support as well as empowerement activities. This year, KAFA will be conducting an English course (two levels: beginner and intermediate) targeting women within its support center in Badaro. Therefore, the English educator will be responsible of providing a total of 48 sessions for the above mentioned target group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide English entry level assessment for the targeted participants;
  • Maintain and archive database related to the first assessment;
  • Provide schedule of activities on weekly/ monthly basis; 
  • Coordinate with the Data and Activities Coordinator in the Support Center regarding logistics;
  • Provide the English curriculum based on the assessment results and meeting the target group's needs;
  • Identify other materials, such as workbooks or/and worksheets;
  • Prepare and deliver a total of 48 sessions;
  • Evaluate level of participants through a pre-posttest;
  • Submit a final report that highlights deliverables and recommendations of the sessions;
  • Refer to the Data and Activities Coordinator in the Support Center for any inquiries or challenges faced during the sessions;
  • Work in compliance with KAFA policies and procedures.

 

 Key Characteristics:

  • Understanding/experience in emergency and/or humanitarian action experience,
  • Openness to working with Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian communities,
  • Computer and communication skills.

 Professional Standards:

While working on this project, the consultant is required to sign KAFA’s Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
