consultant: Site Engineer - Islamic Relief Lebanon

Location: Baalbek, Mount Lebanon, and Beqaa

Islamic Relief Lebanon started its work as a response to the needs of the affected people due to July 2006 war. The organization provided special support to tens of thousands of displaced families by distributing fresh meals, nutrition packs and hygiene kits.

Supported by its offices in different countries, international institutions and the United Nations, the organization provided shelter and rehabilitation to many affected facilities and guaranteed access to potable water, additionally; many wells have been drilled and equipped, while building water tanks through the country. On the other hand, kids were mentored through extracurricular activities to help them overpass the impact of the war at that time.   

With special interest of the organization in education, IRL was able to support several schools by providing educational equipment, complementary courses, and psycho-social programs for the kids, in addition to construction and rehabilitation interventions to support increasing the absorption of the Lebanese educational system.

IRL intends to contract a site engineer to conduct the following tasks as mentioned below:

• Confer with project members to conduct research to determine project requirements.
• Develop construction specifications and procedures
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials
• Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
• Conduct feasibility studies, economic analyses, municipal and regional traffic studies, environmental impact studies or other investigation
• Review supplier contract documents, review and evaluate tenders for construction projects
  Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates.
• Conduct on ground assessment for 1 school and 6 random camps for potential intervention.
• Develop detailed BOQ for 2 schools (Baalbek and Mount Lebanon).
• Develop detailed BOQ 6 random camps in Bekaa.
• The intervention in Baalbek School will be rehabilitation and minor constructions.
• The intervention in Bekaa camps will be upgrading and improving tents situation.
• Transportation is secured for the projects locations
