Description:

Background:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers life-saving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in more than 40 countries and in 22 cities in the United States, the IRC restores safety, dignity, and hope to millions of vulnerable individuals who are uprooted by conflict or disaster. The IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC Child Protection (CP) team works to improve the protection of children in Lebanon through supporting the capacity development of CP service providers to provide quality case management services and strengthen community-based protection mechanisms for children at risk, as well as working directly with children and youth at risk and their families.

Objective:

The Child Labor program in the IRC operates through outreach mobile approach and through its Safe Healing and Learning Spaces (SHLS). The SHLS programming provides structured yet adaptable teaching and learning curricula. The curricula focus on building children’s social-emotional and foundational reading skills, as well as strengthening parenting skills of caregivers. At the space working and out of school children play games and express themselves through art, psychosocial support activities and life skills sessions. The SHLS team also organizes special events for the children, and supports them and caregivers who need special protection and information.

In this project we are looking to design 4 SHLSs: 2 in Tripoli- 1 in Minieh and one in Akkar.

IRC is looking to hire a creative candidate to renovate by designing the SHLSs with a child protection and education lens. The Mural artist will be responsible to design and implement child friendly colorful drawings on the walls of the 4 SHLS’ centers.
