  1. Rationale

 

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Education Program in Lebanon has been implementing a School Retention program in the last two academic years for marginalized Syrian refugee children in Lebanon. Materials for two levels (emerging and developing) have already been developed for Arabic, English, French and Math instruction. However, Retention program’s materials need to be revised based on the feedback of the program’s team.

 

The purpose of this consultancy is, therefore, to recruit a short term (25 days) technical consultant for the revision of the existing Math materials. 

 

  1. Objective
      1. Revise the School Retention Math materials (Emerging and Developing level):
        1. Revise existing Scope and Sequence
        2. Revise existing lesson plans
        3. Revise and fine-tune tutor training materials for Math
        4. Revise and modify students math booklets

  • Revise Scope and Sequence that cover the first 7 weeks (Emerging and Developing level)
  • Revise Lesson plans of the first 7 weeks (Emerging and Developing level)
  • Revise student’s workbooks according to the lesson plans above (Emerging and Developing)
  • Revise 3EA Lebanon Literacy Training part related to Math in the LIHC Training Guide

  • Revise Scope and Sequence that cover weeks 8 to week 22 (Emerging and Developing level)
  • Revise lesson plans of weeks 8 to 22 (Emerging and Developing level)
  • Revise student workbooks according to the lesson plans above (Emerging and Developing)

  1. Qualifications Required
    1. Strong understanding of educational context in Lebanon and the Lebanese curriculum (preschool, elementary and middle school)
    2. Experience in education sector including teaching Math (elementary level)
    3. Experience in lesson plan and curriculum development and/or design
    4. Experience with educational materials development/and or design (specifically for the Syrian refugee student/child population)
    5. Proficiency in Arabic, English and French

Reports to the IRC Education Manager

She/he will be housed at the IRC Zahle offices and/or offsite, as needed
