SCOPE OF WORK:

The facilitator will work at the IRC Women’s and Girls’ Community Center and/or in the mobile locations in Bekaa to provide Arabic, French and English Basic Literacy and Numeracy classes to approximately 20 adolescent girls/group over a period of 5 months maximum. The facilitator will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and conducting the classes twice a week. The course is intended to support the adolescent girls in the refugee and host communities to reach Functional Literacy and Numeracy.

Who this position reports to: Basic Literacy and Numeracy Assistant (BLN-A)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a five month work plan with support from the BLN-A
  • Conduct twice a week classes for the AGs at the IRC Women’s and Girls’ Center and/or in the mobile locations;
  • Prepare lesson materials before lessons;
  • Ensure classes are conducted in a timely manner and AGs attend on time;
  • Identify challenges faced by AGs and assist as appropriate;
  • Share identified challenges with the BLN-A;
  • Attend Teaching Learning Circles (TLCs) in a timely manner;
  • Monitor attendance and follow up with any potential drop-outs;
  • Conduct continuous assessment to monitor progress of AGs;
  • Provide a report to the BLN-A as required;
  • Any other duties as assigned by the BLN-A.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in teaching and supporting adolescents;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to motivate and support AGs;
  • Must be fluent in Arabic, French and English (it depends on the course she will be providing);
  • Flexible under strenuous working conditions;
  • Positive and professional attitude including respect, patience and conflict-resolution skills.
