Job Overview/Summary: The Child Protection Apprenticeship and Outreach Officer is responsible for leading outreach activities for street and working children: psychosocial activities including community based PSS, focused PSS, life skills sessions, parenting skills sessions, special events and learning activities throughout the year. In addition to that the officer will be responsible for leading the apprenticeship schemes: support youths in preparation of placements, which includes, induction, registration, training and development plans and all relevant procedures for placements; and liaising with the employers. He/She will be responsible for identifying high risk cases and accordingly referring to case workers, as well as children and families who can benefit from other service provisions. A significant component of the CP Apprenticeship and Outreach Officer’s role is to update and maintain relevant reporting requirements for the program: Activity Info, weekly sitreps, trends and patterns of street and working children, as well as activity evaluation sheets.  Cases that do not fall under child protection criteria may be accompanied by the officer to access relevant services accordingly. For the majority of the reporting requirements the CP Apprenticeship and Outreach Officers will be responsible for coordinating closely with the Senior M&E Officer and Deputy Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct psychosocial activities for street and working children;
  • Directly facilitate and plan special events and coordinate with other partners/specialist on the planning of more specialized events;
  • Accompany children and families to external agencies to facilitate access to service provisions;
  • Identify and refer cases of street and working children at high risk of harm to the case management team;
  • Responsible for all relevant documentation of the project; 
  • Support youths in preparation of placements, which includes, induction, registration, training and development plans and all relevant procedures for placements and liaising with the employers;
  • Conduct Life Skills Training and/or other preparational training for youths;
  • Conduct pre and post questionnaires, document Bio data, collect time sheets, code of conduct, contracts;
  • Ensure that all documents are filed appropriately;
  • Liaise closely with the case management team, to collect information for referrals and follow up;
  • Produce statistics and reports on a weekly basis and when required;
  • Conducts weekly visit  to the apprenticeship to monitor performance progress of the apprentice, and placement conditions;
  • Ensures that payment of beneficiaries is accurately processed; 
  • Conduct weekly visits to apprentices and employers, document monitoring visits on a weekly basis; 
  • Process payments on a monthly basis;
  • Identify and refer cases that may require to be referred to external or internal services non CP related;
  • Document Trends/patterns of SaWC on a weekly basis;
  • Maintain and update: PSS & Apprenticeship database, activity sheets, activity evaluation forms, activity info, monthly beneficiary reporting, trend forms, sitrep on a weekly/monthly basis;
  • Maintain contact with families of street and working children-disseminate information, materials and NFI’s as and when required;
  • Manage and support volunteers, Basic literacy teachers to conduct PSS activities in various locations;
  • Conduct pre/post questionnaires in all locations of intervention-following standardized protocols accordingly;
  • Conduct Parenting skills sessions for SaWC caregivers;
  • Conduct awareness sessions for children and caregivers;

Other

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs;

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to:  Deputy Manager;

Position directly supervises: BLT, Animators (volunteers), street and working youths and children;

Indirect Reporting:  CP SaWC Manager;

Job Requirements:

  • Technical diploma or degree in non formal education, animation, social work  or related degree preferred;
  • Experience in conducting psychosocial activities for children;
  • Experience in community mobilization and participatory decision making highly preferred and valued
  • Reporting and database entry skills (basic Microsoft word and excel);
  • Proven experience working in challenging situation;
  • Experience in working with children (mandatory);
  • Experience in working with street and working children preferable;
  • Experience in working for an NGO/ humanitarian organization preferable;
  • Personal qualities: communicative, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English speaking is a plus 
  • Staunch advocate of child protection and child rights.
