The midwife, under the supervision of the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) maternity team leader, implements and monitors the objectives defined in the consortium project between the CRC and the CRC in support to the continuum of care during pregnancy at different level of care in the catchment area of Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH).
S/He supports the Team Leader of the project in mapping antenatal and post-natal (including family planning) services in the catchment area of RHUH and on the number, the use and the quality of those services at facility level.
S/He participates in the elaboration of referral practices and pathways between communities, primary healthcare facilities, and RHUH
Independently follows up and updates specific files.
Certifications / Education required:
3 to 5 years experience
Professional diploma
Good knowledge of written and spoken English
Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team
Good communication and diplomacy skills
Good computer skills
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with the CRC Obstetrician and ICRC maternity team supporting RHUH maternity and PHC to implement the project;
Help the CRC Obstetrician in the mapping of PHC facilities in RHUH catchment area
Network for the project: establishes contact with relevant PHCs, important actors in link with the project, and any other tasks identified as relevant by the CRC Team Leader;
Under the supervision of the CRC obstetrician, develops and maintains a network of interlocutors involved in child and maternal health (e.g.: MoPH, UNFPA, NGOs, PHCs, Order of Midwives);
Advise international staff on various matters such as culture, politics, the economy, security, etc.
Interprets at meetings and translates documents from English to Arabic and vice versa when requested;
According to the request of the CRC Obstetrician , plan and organize field trips;
Contribute to the project analysis of the Ante Natal Care (ANC), Post Natal Care (PNC) and Family Planning (FP) issues in the area of the project ;
Participate to the analysis of the use, availability and quality of ANC, PNC, FP and referral services at the different levels of care (PHCs and RHUH);
Participate in the proposal for support of antenatal and postnatal care including family planning care at the PHC level in the catchment area of RHUH;
In coordination with the CRC obstetrician briefs and regularly updates all interlocutors involved in the project (CRC and/or ICRC);
Liaise and coordinate with the ICRC maternity team in RHUH to develop efficient referral pathways of patients from PHC level to hospital level;
Assists the CRC obstetrician in running field activities;
Provides written field reports;
Any other tasks that are deemed necessary by the Team Leader.
