The Nurse Supervisor, as part of the ICRC Health Team, provides nursing care in a high level Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU) in Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH).
S/he works in close collaboration with the RHUH to improve clinical management of adult patients in MSU.
S/he is an active member of the surgical team and assure the implementation of National and ICRC standard documents. Together with RHUH and ICRC MSU management team, s/he participates in the practical implementation of RHUH institutional and ICRC guidelines and protocols, where available and relevant.
S/he develops & implements a job training program in the MSU promoting safe nursing care.
Together with RHUH and ICRC MSU management team, s/he ensures the delivery of quality nursing care and hygiene in the MSU department, infection control and safe medical practice through the follow up of KPIs.
S/he should demonstrate very good interpersonal communication skills with a holistic patient-centered approach.
Education required
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Registered Nurse
- 8years experience minimum in similar field
- Fluent Arabic and English
- Computer literacy
Main tasks and responsibilities:
In close collaboration with RHUH MSU team:
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the doctors, the RHUH MSU in-charge nurse, MSU nurses and other supportive hospital staff. As a Nurse Supervisor, she will have to maintain a conducive environment among the team members and work on transferring interpersonal communication skills among the medical staff working on the MSU.
- Supports MSU staff in identifying and initiating performance improvements within the department.
- Provides, promote and maintain a good standard of nursing care, aseptic techniques and hygiene; promotes safe nursing standards and procedures leading to quality of nursing care.
- Develops a holistic patient-centred care approach in the MSU.
- When gaps are identified in the guidelines and protocols available, may create them together with the RHUH Nurses.
- Provide support and coaching of the nursing team in developing skills (hard or soft) to improve the quality of care for the patients in the MSU;
- Together with RHUH MSU and ICRC management team, assesses progress in MSU on regular basis by ensuring accurate and timely data collection and reporting of MSU activities through KPIs;
- Stock: Ensure all essential lifesaving equipment are available and well maintained. Ensures that the floor stock is well maintained. Ensures correct use of supplies and equipment in the MSU;
- Medications: Participates to the development and implementation of safe medication administration SOP;
- Contribute to any other activities, which may be considered necessary by the ICRC Head Nurse.
