A data entry operator is in charge of updating various individual data regarding ICRC protection activities in favour of detainees, missing people and other vulnerable people in a database based on various paper and/or electronic documents. He/She files and archives the related paper/electronic documents as per ICRC procedures. He/She works under the direct supervision of the Protection data manager.
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
University Degree
3 - 5 years work experience in a similar Field
Very good command of Arabic, good knowledge of written and spoken English
Good computer skills
Good analytical skills
Standard function description:
Performs various data processing on computer independently
Performs internal and external follow-up of individual cases.
Carries out translations
Ensures follow-up and updates of specific files/databases
Specific Tasks
Protection database - Prot6
Understands and puts into application the data entry updating procedures
Participates in the updating of the Missing program data (ADD, BRS, Accompaniment, Events, etc.)
Participates in the updating of tracing material: tracing requests, attestations of detention, correspondence between delegations, etc.
Participates in the updating of the detention visits
Participates in the updating of the allegations of arrest
Analyses and crosschecks the information available in the database, reports any errors to the Data Manager and participates in the correction of the data
Participates in the analysis of the different caseloads
Participates in identifying and reporting cases for which reminders for follow-up may be needed
Other tasks related to Management of Data
Creates individual files for new cases where necessary
Fills in the individual files with the necessary paper documents
Assists the Data Manager in the management of the individual files
Sends Archive documents to Geneva on a periodic basis
Assists the Data Manager in updating the data entry and management procedures for the Protection database and the related workflows
Under the supervision of the line manager and in close coordination with the relevant colleagues in the missing and forensics team, contributes to the mapping of individual data on the missing and their families, drafts a plan of action for the re-organization of the said data in compliance with the relevant guidance on the protection of individual data, and contributes to the implementation of the said plan of action

Drafts embassy notifications requests upon request
Participates in drafting NRF requests upon request
Participates in updating RFL reports such as BI-WOR upon request
Acts as a focal point for detention RCMs upon request
Sends and receives relevant documents to all sub delegations
