The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been present in Lebanon since 1967 and has carried out its humanitarian work through different periods of conflict, including Lebanon’s 15-year-long civil war from 1975–1990. We are currently responding to the rapidly growing needs of displaced people fleeing war and violence across the region into Lebanon as well as the local communities hosting them.
The ICRC activities on behalf of people affected by war and violence in Lebanon include, but are not limited to, ensuring people affected by conflict can get access to basic health care, services such as water and electricity and restore their economic security, securing humane treatment and conditions for detainees, building respect for the IHL and supporting the families of the missing persons.
We are based in Beirut and have offices in Tripoli, Tyr and Zahle.

Job purpose:
As part of the Protection Department, and under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the Protection Assistant supports the work of the department (Protection, Detention, Tracing, Missing, Forensic and Data) through ensuring general administrative support to the Department and carrying out secretarial tasks.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor Degree
5 years’ experience in similar position
Fluent knowledge of English and Arabic
Computer literacy
Very good sense of initiative and organization
Ability to work autonomously
Capacity to carry out complex activities/files in various fields
Capacity of treating information confidentially
Capacity to apply ICRC rules and procedures
Standard function description:
Supports implementation of projects and programmes;
Produces statistics and updates data using specialized tools.
Independently drafts and finalizes correspondence, internal presentations, meeting minutes and other documents; shares information among users.
Updates the timeline, tables and charts, schedule and other tools and ensures invoices are followed up on.
Prepares for meetings by setting up rooms and materials, including technical set-up for conference calls, presentations and video conferences.
Independently carries out complex secretarial tasks.
Assists with organizing seminars, training sessions and workshops; liaises with internal and external contacts and service providers related to their work and follows up on expenses.
Contributes to producing tools adapted to their unit’s needs.
Applies information-management instructions and ensures compliance with procedures, including in terms of user training (practices and tools) where needed.
Keeps files up-to-date and ensures that records are managed properly.
